I couldn’t genuinely call Canada’s Wonderland my home park until today. AlpenFury has completely changed that.
This long-overdue addition to the B&M-heavy lineup blows every other ride out of the water. It delivers whip-fast, snappy transitions and relentless airtime that the park’s existing coasters simply can’t match.
The launch packs more punch than I expected, and every element of the ride landed perfectly for me. Despite a 5½-hour wait on opening day partially due to a couple of brief downtime issues, the overall ride experience was outstanding. Capacity felt a bit slow, which isn't surprising: AlpenFury only runs two trains of 18 riders each.
One small hiccup: a larger rider next to me found the restraints uncomfortable. Even after the operator adjusted them, he remained uneasy but decided to ride anyway. I personally had no issues, but it’s worth noting.
All in all, AlpenFury made a stellar first impression, enough to leave me wanting more rides right away.
Edit: I do have to say I keep seeing this ride compared to Maverick and personally I may be in the minority who prefer Maverick more.
