I love the vampire, this is my favourite ride in the park, its theme is great and has lots of near miss elements, the swinging physics is also really fascinating. The main bit that is bad are the seats they have no head padding so when Vampire jolts, (it is old so it has a lot of these) it can kind of hurt a tiny bit. but its nothing too serious I would recommend head forwards but its easily manageable without your head forwards.

It was more fun than expected. Unlike some modern Vekoma suspendeds, this one does swing quite significantly, which is nice. An Arrow it is, and like an Arrow it feels, with the jankiness and awkward transitions that can be expected from them. I think I liked it more than the other Arrow I've ridden, El Diablo at Portaventura, as this one is a bit more intense and has the swinging gimmick. Theming is quite well done, specially the station. However, capacity is awful (as in the rest of Chessington), which shouldn't be given it has two trains, and not small ones. The fast pass has way too much priority.

I've been on this ride twice, once last year, once this year. Last year, I had an enjoyable ride, nothing special really but it was fun. This year, the discomfort and rattle was insane. It actually confuses me how a coaster can get so rough in such a short time. My spine was in pain after my ride. Personally I think they need to replace this ride with something like a two seat flying coaster like at phantasialand. I don't think it's worth your time to wait for this unless for a credit.

I can only describe Vampire as dated and strange. It was not uncomfortable or rough for me, but it just did not do very much which I do think is a tell of it's age (and the fact arrow coasters seem to be like that). The most fun thing is the swinging through the trees and buildings feeling, but not really any intensity whatsoever. I do like the old school theming and it is a charming ride, but whether it can last much longer we'll see.

Sans être un coaster exceptionnel, Vampire aura réussi à me marquer assez positivement, déjà le coaster est bien situé, isolé dans sa forêt et on a une théma vraiment surprenante surtout avec cette gare qui possède une ambiance très réussie. Pour ce qui est du ride c'est long et c'est fun avec des drop et des virages qui exploitent pas trop mal le côté suspended surtout celui après la photo car il est pris assez vite, par contre avec les trains vekoma et les vieux harnais on se prends des baffes qui viennent entacher l'expérience. Il faut aussi se méfier des temps d'attentes qui grimpes très vite sur cette machine.

Pros: Surprisingly intense in some of the turns, especially in the second half; the forest and spooky town creates a nice setting, you feel that your feet will crack against the roofs; the station is also well themed. Cons: The Vekoma OTS Restraint causes headbanging in the snappier transitions.

The ride started my journey as a coaster-enthusiast. This coaster really started the coaster industry in the UK. Built in 1990, it still remains although nearly shutting down a couple of times. This suspended-swinging coaster flies through the forest, weaving in between trees. I love the station, the queue line and the piano-man animatronic who stills remains to this day. It is great fun although definitely it shows it's age. The track could do with a re-paint and I think the ride needs a re-track as it is a tad rough. Despite the age, it's a fun family coaster and definitely paved the way to allow for coasters like nemesis and oblivion to be built.

ah the classic. it's certainly showing its age but it's still kicking for sure. the first half is great, the sensation of swooping around the trees is just great. the second half is admittedly a bit slower, but it feels like it's building anticipation for the Big Boy drop at the end, which is always the best and most memorable part of the whole coaster. the trains are a bit of a downside, with basically glorified slc trains. they're plastic and have uncomfortable bulky restraints. i don't think they entirely ruin the ride though. since this coaster is likely nearing its end of life, i'm just hoping this coaster has the same sort of life breathed back into it the way nemesis did.

A classic family coaster that’s fun for anyone (even if you’re scared of rollercoasters). This is such a beloved ride by many and is what helped me over my fear of ‘big’ rides. It’s meant to be more fun than intense, so I wouldn’t recommend if you prefer massive thrills. The queue line and station are brilliantly themed, and the animatronic organist is awesome! The main downside to this ride is that it’s getting pretty old and breaks down quite a lot. With its age, it’s getting quite rough as well. I found the back row seats to be incredibly head bang-y which lessens the quality of the ride.

Went on it again this year (have been visiting Chessington almost annually since I was pretty much a baby) and I had to notice that this ride is aging rapidly, especially the paint job and reliability. Headbanging is an extreme problem, but the good thing about the ride is that you get some good swinging, especially in the final tunnel. Just wish it could be closed for a year-long refurb with new trains (that still swing), a new colour, and theming restores to make it feel brand new. The ride is one of my favourites in the world but it's nowhere near as reliable as it was say 10 years ago. I went on it about 6 times during this trip (3 day 1, 3 day 2) and the last time I went on it we were sitting in the pre-station break run for about 15 minutes and then had to have our restraints manually opened with an allen key... not the greatest...

The best part of the ride is definitely the drop into the tunnel as it picks up a lot of speed and sends the train swinging to the side. As an old arrow coaster the track has plenty of jolts throughout which aren't a huge problem, only a bit uncomfortable. The theming for Vampire is quite weak but as the ride takes place in a big area in a forest it doesn't take from the experience - what little theming there is in the queue and station are pretty good.

But you need to keep your head straight all the time, if you relax too much, you'll risk of banging it as I did the first time. But overall, it's an amazing roller coaster that I rode multiple times

Comme je l'avais deviné en voyant le parcours de l'extérieur, c'est plutôt gentillet, dans le même genre que Kvasten de Gröna Lund, toutefois quelques accélérations supplémentaires par rapport à ce dernier lui ajoutent quelques sensations un peu plus intenses, mais excepté Dragon's Fury, les attractions de ce parc, par ailleurs très joli et agréable, avec en outre son zoo de qualité, sont surtout familiales. L'attraction que j'ai le plus apprécié ensuite, serait la tour aux chutes assez sympas, Croc Drop.

Vampire is a true classic, both at Chessington and more widely. As with any classics, it has it's flaws, namely the trains which are not comfortable, and the ageing track naturally isn't completely smooth in a few places, more noticeably when at the front of the train. Luckily the back is much less janky and also the best place to ride. The swing feels more natural at the back, and it also gives some really nice intensity on the drop off the second lift, and the famed best part of the ride, the big drop down into the tunnel. The rest of the ride is great fun, good swing throughout the layout, and a good duration as well. The theming, whilst still good, is hampered by knowing how it used to be, although the station and queue retain a nice eery atmosphere. This is a great family coaster, fits so well into the Chessington lineup, and hopefully once it gets to the end of it's service life, they're able to retrack it or modify it to retain it in something like it's current form

A classic for sure. And a must do ride to do in chessington. I had one ride on Vampire and it was a unique experience. It was very long and quite smooth for an old ride (comparable to Nemesis). The themeing is great inside the building due to the darkness and ambience leading up to the ride. There was some nice touches in the station (E.G, a statue and light effects). However, the ride experience was fairly tame but enjoyable, this could be because of some dead spots and the many chainlifts which are used. The drop into the tunnel was nice but i was expecting it to be more intense than it was due to the povs flying through the banked drop. Overall, it was a unique experience however not a very thrilling one compared to other attractions.

While the SLC esc restraints are a pain, especially on the swings, I didn't mind it that much, but paired with the rattle, if you're looking for a smooth ride, this isn't your thing. The theming and location is outstanding, with a wonderful atmosphere shrouding the area. Also the station smells like badger, not sure if that's on purpose or there's a badger family somewhere in the walls, but it's there.
