Il y a dans la vie d'un coaster fan plusieurs étapes. La première est celle de découvrir sa passion, ainsi que les parcs régionaux qui l'entourent. Puis on grandi et on découvre les machines autour de nous qui nous font petit à petit lever la tête. Et une fois que cette soif a été assouvie, il y a la découverte des machines légendaires. Celles qu'on voit uniquement en image, en on-ride en se disant que jamais on ne pourra mettre nos fesses dessus. C'est tout ce cheminement qui me venait à l'esprit au moment où Kingda Ka qui avait été capricieux toute la journée, ouvrit enfin. Sa cime été démesurément immense. Tous les superlatifs qui me viennent en tête ne suffiraient pas à expliquer l'expérience que ce fût. Deux rides, dont un en front, à ressentir une vitesse inouïe. À décoller, à trembler dans tout son corps comme si on venait de toucher à quelque chose de saint, sacré. À en sortir tremblant encore plus qu'en entrant de l'avoir fait. En soi, en étant très sincère il y a des machines qui sont beaucoup plus agréables, formidables dans leurs sensations que ce monstre vert. Mais voila, c'était kingda ka, c'était une expérience à part entière. Je me sens chanceux d'avoir eu la détermination d'aller le tester et d'avoir ressenti ce que c'était. Il est triste à présent d'en parler au passé, mais réjouissons nous d'avoir ne serait-ce que quelques secondes, grimper à son sommet rempli de vie.

I was devastated that the king of all roller coasters was closing just a week before my first visit to Six Flags. When I heard the news, I told myself it was just a rumor, because I was pumped about going to Great Adventure to ride the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, and I couldn't tell myself that it couldn't happen. "I mean, they can't just tear it down, that would be so messed up," I thought, but they did, and I saw a video. But before that, I went to Six Flags before it was officially taken down, and it was still standing, but closed. It was a shame that I never got to ride it.

I promise I’m not giving it extra points bc it’s gone but this was genuinely one of the best coasters that I’ve ridden. This ride was just something else. It had a presence that dominated this park, you could see it from anywhere not only in the park but also near it. Walking up and waiting for this ride was always so anticipating, and then the slow rollout into the launch was one of the most adrenaline-pumping moments on any coaster. Then the launch, which was seriously one of the best sensations on any coaster ever. You get THROWN forward with a crazy gut-punch but it just keeps going and getting faster and faster until the wind tries to rip your face off. Then the top hat, which not only gave great airtime in the front but the feeling that you were on top of the world. Incredible view as well. Then the actual drop which was amazing, and the giant hill (which gave floater) into the brakes. Short but gave the greatest rush on any coaster that I’ve ever ridden and probably ever will ride. Miss this thing to death

This was definitely worth a trip to Six Flags. Even though it's now defunct, I can confirm that it was one of the scariest yet most fun rides I've ever been on. That view the drop gave you of the parking lot was undescribable. My only problem was the short ride. Other than that, it was pretty awesome and I'm proud to say I conquered it before it got torn down.

Kingda Ka. The king of all coasters. This was the tallest coaster with the largest drop in the world for 19 long years and the fastest in North America. The initial launch is one of the most intense elements on any ride you’ll find, accelerating from 0-121 mph in 3.5 seconds. The epic top hat into the 3/4 roll drop into an airtime hill. The best part was that there was a chance you get a rollback: when the train doesn’t make it over the top hat and you go down the drop backwards back into the station to the sounds of cheers. Rollbacks were rare, but possible. That being said, the ride is incredibly short, has low capacity per train, and was notorious for breaking down multiple times and being very unreliable, not to mention expensive. I’m glad I got my last rides closing weekend including in the front seat on a night ride. This was a mandatory bucket list attraction for any coaster enthusiast. Long live the King.

This ride was very divisive for some reason, but I think it's absolutely fantastic for what it was. That launch is out of this world. The pullouts are very intense, and of course, that twisting drop is so memorable! While the hill after the drop doesn't give much airtime, it doesn't really need to. I think it serves its purpose as a "cooler brake run" moreso than an actual element, and I think it's definitely better than going straight into the brakes, so I judge it like so. All in all, this is the most iconic coaster of our times, and it's an absolute shame to see it being ruthlessly taken down. RIP King :(

I got my first and last 2 rides on Kingda Ka less than a month before it closed permanently. I remember watching videos of this ride as a kid with thoughts running through my head about how petrifying this coaster looked. I can't believe its going to be gone, but I am honored I was able to get two incredible rides on the king of coasters. If I had known about the rumors at the time, I would have ridden Ka over and over again, but my experience with this beast was fleeting. Kingda Ka's 120mph launch was the best launch I've ever experienced, and flying up and over the tophat was unreal. Kingda Ka was a once in a lifetime experience. Long live the King

Un ride qu’il faut absolument faire sur le 1er wagon pour avoir le moins de vibration que possible et pour profiter à fond cette expérience unique. Aujourd’hui redevenue le seul coaster (pour le moment) à passer la barre des 200 Km/h. C’est vraiment un ride unique avec tout qui est intense. Le launch qui pousse de façon continue sans que vous puissiez décoller votre dos du siège, le top hat très intense dans les creux avec un chouette floating en haut et même l’airtime de fin pris à vitesse grand V. C’est un ride unique ! Très heureux d'avoir pu tester cette légende. Les meilleures 40s sur un coaster sans aucun doute <3

Le launch est à coupé le souffle, l’arrêt avant le launch fait monter la pression, c’est tellement stressant de se dire que en 5 secondes on sera en haut. Surtout ne pas faire en arrière, ça vibre comme JAMAIS, le meilleur rang c’est le 2ieme, derrière le first car il n’y a pas de lunettes, donc on voit rien. Évitez à tout prix les places derrières c’est une purge. A faire pour l’expérience et à refaire

The launch is just face warping and organ displacing strength - never felt such launch. The way up and down is just loooong. Even though its just seconds. For rollercoaster terms it is long and surely feels like it! Love the twist on the drop which is like a whip. I can't agree with naming the comfort or rattle as a con, given its age and the swaying is not that bad. If its such a big deal you might wanna try the middle seats.

God, this ride lives up to the hype. It doesn't have the jolting immediate speed of Xcelerator - the acceleration feels relatively slow, but it just keeps speeding up until you can't even believe how fast you're going. Then you're suddenly almost 500 feet in the air, and yeah, it's just an incomparable ride. It's not quite a 10/10 ride for me but it needs to be ridden to be beliieved.

I am a sucker for launch coasters and big drops, so of course Kingda Ka is one of my favorites. The launch is insane and cannot be topped. I love the jungle theming for it as well, even if it isn’t a lot (the queue music loop is the highlight). Only downside is that it’s 50 seconds, and you don’t really feel the drop and the airtime hill like you would on say..Nitro. But it’s still an insane coaster regardless.

I had forgotten how great the launch and top hat on this ride are. It's absolutely insane. The wind makes my eyes nearly stay shut, the speed is like free falling sky diving, and that's before going up 450 feet. That final airtime hill is so intense too. Does it belong in comparison with other coasters, probably not, but it's still possibly the most intense coaster in north america, including its neighbor el toro, and X2. For your own sake, ride this in the front row!

What makes Kingda ka incredible is saying that you did it. Being able to say that you rode the tallest roller coaster in the world. The ride is an experience that is in no mean perfect but does not lack intensity. The first launch is absolutely amazing and so intense. Climbing up to the top of the track, slowly going over the hill, and diving straight down to finish the ride. It even has a small drop at the end. While it is not the smoothest ride, it is definitely an experience that you will never forget.

Kingda Ka, at least for me, was an incredibly unique and transcendent experience; it's very hard to put into words the experience of being launched at 128 miles per hour and 456 feet into the air. It's nearly impossible to comprehend what is happening as you rise to the highest point on a roller coaster in the world at absurd speeds before plummeting back down to earth. Riding in the front row is an absolute necessity on this ride; feeling your face be almost ripped apart by the sheer speed of the ride is wild. I will say, riding in the back row does feel a bit like being inside of a blender. It doesn't completely ruin the experience, but it certainly isn't the most comfortable place to ride. Unrelated to the coaster itself, I love the bamboo-surrounded queue. I really felt transported to another location in a way that no other regional amusement park has achieved. Kingda Ka is a coaster icon for good reason, and I heavily encourage getting out to Great Adventure to experience this monstrosity because its days are likely numbered. 9.5/10 - how did we let New Jersey get such an important world record come on

It is amazing how much speed a single launch can create. It is the best one I've experienced so far. For me, the ride is all about that launch and the ascend to the tophat. The drop is inferior to an inversionless one (like Red Force's) but it is still fun. In my opinion Storm Runner at Hersheypark is the better accelerator coaster as it still has a ride after the awesome cable launch. Nevertheless, Kingda Ka is a rollercoaster every enthusiast should have ridden at least once.

Kingda Ka est ce genre de ride qui peut rendre fou n'importe qui. Lorsqu'on quitte la gare et qu'on se retrouve face à cette ligne droite interminable, on a toujours une sensation particulière. On regarde droit devant nous, on lève les yeux et on se dit : "dans quelques secondes je serai tout là haut, au sommet du plus haut coaster de la planète". Cette expérience est courte mais peut facilement rentrer dans les meilleures 30 secondes d'une vie. Pour moi, Kingda Ka est un coaster qui rivalise facilement avec les meilleurs coasters de durée "normale" tant chaques secondes à bord de ce truc sont légendaires et inoubliables! A faire absolument au premier rang, chaque aspect du ride est bien mieux devant : sensation de vitesse, vue, airtime sur le top hat, confort, aucune vibration.

Le launch le plus puissant que j'ai pu faire de ma vie. Quand le train sort de la gare et se place face à la tour, on se demande comment, dans quelques secondes, on va se retrouver tout en haut. A noter le fait qu'il n'y a strictement aucun bruit et aucun son de la file d'attente lorsqu'on se trouve au point d'arrêt avant le launch, ce qui peut nous faire réfléchir à la question de "Qu'est-ce que je fais ici?". Après d'interminables seconde le train recule pour se caler sur le chariot et c'est l'accélération. On part d'un coup sans comprendre ce qui nous arrive, l'accélération est constante sur les 2/3 et sature un peu à la fin. On grimpe la tour en quelques secondes puis on fait face au sol. Pendant la chute on pourrait presque penser qu'on peut toucher les supports car on les rase. Le creux procure pas mal de G+ mais également quelques vibrations. On gravit ensuite la bosse qui procure un léger flottement puis vient ensuite les freins magnétiques qui permettent un freinage en douceur. Si vous avez l'occasion de rider la bête, faite le car les launchs hydrauliques sont de plus en plus rares et aucun launch LSM ne peut me faire revivre ce que j'ai vécu. Pour le placement, c'est très important car il va déterminer à quel point les vibrations seront intenses ou non. Ne vous placez pas au 1er rang, la vue est certes belles avant l'accélération, mais à cause de la vitesse c'est impossible de garder les yeux ouverts. N'envisagez pas les derniers wagons car les vibrations latérales pendant le launch vous feront un massage des cervicales. Placez vous au 2e rang du 1er wagon ou dans le 2e wagon, vous ne serez pas gênés par le vent dans les yeux mais vous aurez quand même une vue relativement dégagée, et vous ne ressentirez que légèrement les vibrations. Si vous allez à partir du 3e wagon vous commencerez à avoir des rides inconfortables.

Un seul mot, WoW, Kingda ka est un monstre. En arrivant dans la zone, le simple fait de voir le train franchir le top hat donne des frissons. La zone est sûrement la plus belle du parc, car assez boisée et comporte une bonne ambiance musicale. Une fois dans le train, c’est carrément flippant, les « harnais guillotines » font clairement peur, bien qu’il ne m’on absolument pas déranger pendant les rides. Au first une fois le petit virage en sortie de gare passé, vous vous faites dessus rien qu’en voyant la longueur de l’accélération, et le top hat qui se dessine devant vous. Les secondes qui précèdent le Launch sont les plus angoissantes de votre vie, simplement car vous êtes face à face avec le plus haut coaster du globe. Lorsque le Launch vient, c’est simplement monstrueux, une sensation complètement indescriptible tant ce launch envoie sa race, vous êtes plaqué contre le siège, impossible de décoller sa tête. Vous montez en haut des 139m sans même vous en rendre compte, bel airtime sur le top hat, vous admirez un peu la vue et réalisez que ce coaster est fou avant de plongez dans une drop bien sympathique pour finir dans les trims, sur un camel back de 45m de haut que vous franchirez extrêmement rapidement. Kingda Ka c’est parfait, c’est juste bien trop court pour monter dans un top 5, mais quel prouesse d’Intamin, bravo

Kingda Ka is truly the king when it comes to this style of coasters (and coasters in general). The 0-120 launch is beyond forceful and truly phenomenal, plus I had no issues nor discomfort in the back row. The view up top is the best out there and the plummet down is scary as hell. The whole ride also delivers great airtime up top and on the hill at the end. Only wish it were even longer because good lord is it fun.
