Boulder Dash is one of my favorite coasters and arguably the best woodie in the world, and for good reason: it has one of the most unique wooden coaster layouts you’ll ever see: an out and back ride with intense ejector hills built into the side of an actual mountain! With just a lap bar, be prepared to yeet out of your seat on most of the hills. The first drop is more intense than it looks, and at around 60 mph, it is nonstop action from start to finish. It’s located at my home park of Lake Compounce and this ride has won the Golden Ticket over 5 times for good reason! A wooden masterpiece!

This is at my home park, and I've been going on this coaster for years. It has gotten rougher over time but is still pretty smooth for a wooden coaster. The trains can be a little difficult to get into, but they are pretty comfortable. Biggest con is how it ONLY RUNS 1 TRAIN. Seriously wish they would fix that. The pros greatly outweigh the cons though. The titian track was a very good improvement for the drop and the bit on the return trip, it even seems like it increased the speed. That has caused some of the other track to feel rougher though. The airtime is insane, on hot summer days its crazy good ejector. The location is one of the prettiest I've experienced, going through the trees on the mountain and being right next to the lake. Night rides are an absolute must do experience. Take everything you experience I n the da and make it twice as good from not being able to see anything. You truly have no idea where you are going. Can't recommend riding enough.

As of my first rides on Boulder Dash, it is currently my second favorite wooden coaster. There are flaws, but it is still a great ride. Some of the issues reside before you even get on. First, the capacity could be good, but the lack of a second train makes it atrocious and the line can get pretty long. In line, there is a good chance the ride breaks down. It happened quite a few times during my visit, and the main reason is the lap bar getting stuck. Each time this happens, they have to call maintenance to eventually (after 10-20 minutes) release the restraint. Speaking of the restraints, they are the PTC lap bars, which I find under appreciated. I don’t know if it was just me, but these ones seemed to lower more than the usual PTC lap bars. First drop isn’t noteworthy, but the following elements provide amazing laterals that continues throughout the course. You get PINNED to your seat for quite a bit of time. After a few elements, the ride suddenly provides ejector at the apex of the hills. With the PTC lap bars, this airtime is elite and makes the ride world class. Some of these ejector moments also have those laterals, which causes a mix of two powerful forces and makes it really memorable. The turnaround itself doesn’t do nothing noteworthy, but the return run contains several hills of floater airtime. This whole ride is extremely long, which I value in a ride. It is element after element after element. That partially contributes to the capacity issue, but the ride itself gains a perk from it. The main takeaway from all of this is the roughness. The titan track given at the beginning and on one hill during the return run is smooth, but some parts can have a pretty nasty rattle. For the parts that don’t have too much with an issue, it feels like a charm. It makes it feel like a classic wooden coaster albeit with the incredible forces. The bad parts should be given titan track though. It’s uncomfortable and makes some parts of the ride worse. At least it’s better than the ending on Wildcat. Still, the layout is amazing and I enjoy the long, forceful experience despite the problems. || Night ride update: Oh my god, do this at night. At that point, the roughness just adds to the experience. It becomes an out of control experience going through the woods with hardly any light at all. It will give a headache, but it is a well deserved one. It also is even faster at night. There are now several more moments that give either stronger airtime than before or airtime that wasn't there to begin with. On a Saturday in September when people don't really think to do a halloween event, it is worth it. Stay as late as possible so you can ensure a night ride. Maybe just do one since it will give a headache, but honestly with how good the ride is, it doesn't matter. Boulder Dash is truly world class and the night ride made me appreciate the rattle even on a wheel seat.

Boulder Dash has a 5 star layout with absolutely stunning terrain climbing granite hillsides and flying through the forest, but it has a 1-star condition making it impossible to enjoy riding. Lake Compounce just hasn’t replaced the lumber regularly and now they seem to have given up on basic wood coaster maintenance and are putting in the steel track. This is totally unnecessary and a shame. I guess better to ride a steel version of this than no coaster at all due to park mismanagement. Shame on this park’s owners.

What an insane location for a woodie, combined with a ride experience that I can only describe as a cross between Raven's second half and pre-2022 Beast. It's a wild ride experience mostly throughout, just with some odd dead spots and some hills that really should hit harder than they do. Overall, though, it's a crazy unique ride that's worth the hype. Don't miss out on the night ride.

When I first got a re-ride on this, I thought this coaster was just rough and forceless. But with my most recent rides, I actually felt a lot of force, and the rattle was not as bad. It feels as if this ride just got randomly better. But maybe that’s just because I rode it in a different spot. For the best ride, go to the 2nd to last row.

I heard many things about this being an elite woodie, but when I got on it yesterday, it just... didn't deliver. First of all, it was running one train. (ONE TRAIN OPS!!) Second, I thought the back seat would be the best for airtime, but instead I got rattle and only mild ejector (don't know if they stapled me or what.) I may have gotten a wheel seat or something. Later, I found out it was in the process of getting Titan Tracked. Although I do say, it was scenic at least. BTW, I got the picture, and it looks like I'm in fucking pain due to the jankness of the thing.

They titan tracked the first drop, which is smooth and not the rough sections instead… I’m always wary on woodies due to susceptibility to roughness but this is rediculous. It doesn’t belong on the top 100. Period. If it was smoother, I think it might have a shot due to its intensity and surroundings but nah…

This is a ride like no other and you absolutely have to ride it in the front. Very smooth and an insanely fun trip into the woods and back. The airtime you get is pretty much the same in any row. The first drop is amazing with the titan track and the pacing is top notch from start to finish. There's really nothing bad I can say about this ride until you sit in other rows. Sitting in a wheel seat can be quite uncomfortable after the titan track segment so I recommend an odd numbered row, unless you like to experience the roughness which I totally understand. I will also note that this ride almost always runs one train but with this being a small park, you still won't have to wait too long. A full queue is only 30-40 minutes and after 5 rides on a Sunday, the average wait was about 15 minutes.

A fantastic trip up into the woods. The titan track on the first drip really helps enhance the ride by allowing a smooth and fast run into the full wood sections. It probably wouldn't work as a full titan track but it allows for great intense speed at the start. The drops weaves up and down the forest hill with some great intense hills. It does slow down though at the end

An awesome and unique wooden coaster. The trip through the woods is a blast. The layout is nicely done with lots of great airtime, and the closeness to the terrain makes it feel like it's going faster than it really is. It's also very smooth for a woodie. Lines were pretty short, and I was able to ride it 12 times in three hours. I made a special trip to Lake Compounce for this coaster, and it was worth it.

Besides Beast at night this might be the most out of control ride I've ever experienced. The whole thing is so rough which makes it way crazier and it just keeps throwing crazy good ejector moments and laterals at you while weaving through the stunning mountainside. Such a long ride and honestly feels like an endurance test but a crazy fun one for sure.

It has not been named best wooden roller coaster 5 times for no reason. I would change nothing about the ride except about how much rattle there is. After you ride it a couple of times in a row you will be in a little of pain. But once again overall an amazing roller coaster.

The best terrain coaster in the country! Boulderdash can sometimes be a little uncomfortable (depends on where in the train you sit), but that slight discomfort is completely worth it. This coaster rips through the woods with awesome airtime moments, but due to it being built on a mountain, you’re close to the ground the whole time so it feels like you’re going even faster. I will always love this ride!

This is one of the most difficult times I have had ranking a coaster. If I had stopped riding after my third ride I would have this higher. I had one great ride, two that were good but that were below expectations, and two that were too rough. After my first ride, I was definitely underwhelmed. I thought there would be more airtime, and stronger airtime. Not every moment delivered, and most were just floater. There was one sharp hill that delivered the best pop of airtime no matter where you sat, that was true ejector. But many hills did not deliver, most frustratingly the apparent double down going out. Laterals are pretty good all over. The front seat is easily the best seat. That is where I got the most airtime, and legitimately thought it was a top 20-25 experience (out of 100) that I had had on a coaster. But then I rode it two more times, and they were really rough, and that left me with a bad taste in my mouth as I went home. On the plus side, this has a fantastic setting in the woods, and it absolutely tears through the layout. I think my expectations were too high. I had three rides that were quite fun, just not world-class. I had two rides that beat me up. Be wary.

I was so disappointed with Boulder Crash in 2006. Fabulous location; but a terribly violent ride. Intensity does not require sitting on a jack hammer for 90 seconds. It's coming to something when I enjoyed the parks Boomerang (admittedly one of the better examples of it's type) rather more! Boulder crash is absolutely screaming for an RMC rescue package, if there ever was one. It's not like the layout even needs much of a change, just needs smoothing out with lighter trains and suspension to soak up the damage.

Impossible de prendre du plaisir sur ce Boulder Dash... 1 étoile pour le layout au potentiel monstrueux et 1 autre pour l'emplacement du coaster, dans la forêt à flan de colline c'est somptueux. Mais pour le reste il est grand temps de faire quelque chose !!!
