Probably the most temperamental coaster I’ve done aside from Iron Gwazi. When the trains are anything but full, you barely lift off the seat. But when the trains ARE full and you’re sitting in the back, you’re flying everywhere and it suddenly becomes elite. So strange!

I’d like to preface this review by saying I only had the opportunity to ride Lightning Rod on cold, rainy days. I could very well be severely underselling the ride. However, I was still disappointed by the ride’s length and terrible wood sections that should be replaced ASAP. I also found it to lack the bite many newer RMCs have, and I believe this may be a bit overhyped due to its legacy status. I did really enjoy the first few elements and the overrated but still awesome “quad-down”, but I found the middle of layout was just okay, not something you can afford to do with such a short layout. As it nears a decade of operation, in my opinion Lightning Rod has fallen from grace to newer competition.

Aside from its length, I view Steel Vengeance as a jack of all trades, master of none. It distinctly lacks the power of Gwazi, the layout of ArieForce, and the sequencing of Wildcat's Revenge. However, I still think it's an absolutely incredible ride and I understand why so many have it as their favorite. It wasn't until I got a warmed up front row night ride (highly recommend) that I truly understood what everyone sees in it.

Really close to perfection for me. Sick aggressive transitions, great launch and sense of speed, awesome airtime. Overall, very powerful. The only parts I don't like are the inversions, which are just fine. I don't think meeting the status quo is what you should settle for on a layout this good, and that's what I feel the inversions do.

First off, I want to clear this ride's name a bit before I dig into it. The rattle on this is COMPLETELY INCONSEQUENTIAL. You literally just have to put the restraint on as tight as possible, and keep your head forward to avoid the headbanging. I have never once had an issue riding this since I learned that, and it applies to every single B&M with this type of OTS restraint. The amount of people I see complaining about such an easy to fix problem is insane! Anyways, one of the most overrated coasters in my opinion. I've been on this over 20 times, and only one of all my rides was good enough to where I could understand why everyone else loves it. The beginning is great, powerful launch and floaty zero-g roll (best in row 4), but I seriously believe everything that follows is plain... and the entire second half is just boring. Every time I hit the final brakes I always just want to get off the ride, and I only do it because the wait time is constantly <10 minutes due to excellent ops. This is overwhelmingly carried by the launch, on-board music, and the park that it's in.
