I went on this a bunch as a kid. The name and concept created a tremendous aura of suspense and intrigue. But I always found the experience to be a tad underwhelming. It was my first hanging coaster and it had some really cool and fun moments...but when riding it, I always felt like it was holding back from what could have been a truly remarkable coaster, ahead of its time. Good not great was always my review, despite the fond nostalgia I maintain for it.

My review of this from 2 years was about how the ride had potential, but it was just too rough to reach the potential. Well, after last year, most of the potential has been reached and it now serves as a great wooden coaster. The roughest parts have to be the hills in the first half and the first drop. These are quite rough, although they are tolerable (Remember, this is the ROUGHEST part of the ride). The turnaround is the first moment of titan track. Nothing noteworthy, but still smooth and fun. The turn following the next hill is the second part of titan track. With it being the oldest part, it so far has aged like fine wine. It’s steel, but it feels kind of like a smooth wooden coaster. I’m a big fan of woodies and I love seeing them preserved, and this titan track aging is honestly great enough for me not to complain. The next 2 hills were the worse part of the ride last year, even causing jackhammering. This year with the titan track, they didn’t do it. They produced the best airtime on the ride with some pretty good floater. My least favorite part turned into my favorite part of the ride. The rest of the ride isn’t too noteworthy. Airtime, but pretty rough, although once again it’s tolerable. Maybe the rough parts are less to complain about because of the trains. The PTC restraints are great for airtime and this ride probably has the best headrest of any coaster I’ve been on. It’s a goddamn pillow. The pillow is able to absorb a lot of the pain. While I do have to slouch for my head to be on the pillow and I’m only 5’6”, it is still possible and it vastly helps with the ride experience and generally just the comfort. My former issue with the seat belt digging in was resolved as I was more careful making sure it wasn’t twisted. Anyways, this is a great, underrated wooden coaster that is improved heavily thanks to the new retracting. 2025 UPDATE: The ride has gotten even better every year. This year there were several parts of the ride that has airtime + laterals simultaneously, leading to it now being what I consider #2 in the park and being rated a 4.5 star ride now.

While it is still a great ride, this is my least favorite B&M Hyper of the 4 I've done. The first drop is pretty fun and unique for any coaster. The loop itself is fun. The immelmann isn't anything special. Zero-g roll and corkscrew are, as always, fun moments. There were multiple other moments that went over water that were nice, but they didn't do anything. I was hoping for something more but I didn't get it. Still, the inversions are great like any invert and the ride is still worthy of 4 stars. UPDATE: I forgot to update this even though it's been a year since I rode it but it isn't the worst invert I've done. I got a better experience in August 2024 with a more forceful zero-g roll and corkscrew and it caused it to go up in my rankings to a 4.5 star rating.

In my opinion Orion is underrated and easily the best coaster in the park. I don't really understand why a lot of people seem to put this lower in the park ranking but for me this is without a doubt #1 at Kings Island. Of course since it's a giga the first drop is amazing, but this one feels like Candymonium's drop in the sense that you get flung over it. After the drop is a wave turn that, despite not giving any airtime, still is really fun in the sense that it is banked 90 degrees. After the wave turn is a turnaround that goes into a speed hill offering great airtime and then another hill that continues to give airtime. The helix following the 2 hills was really surprising because it actually had great positives throughout the entire helix. There's another turn after the helix that's also surprising because it has a surprising pop of airtime afterwards. One of the main things that people argue about Orion is the duration, but I didn't have an issue with it at all and found it to be a longer ride than Leviathan. Overall Orion is a great and underrated coaster that I'm glad Kings Island got, even if Fury's still better.

I never got to experience Volcano, but I'm assuming that this is a huge downgrade from it. I'm just simply not a fan of this ride aside from the launch. The launch is actually good and easily the best part of the ride. After it is an overbank which is fun but doesn't do anything. After the overbank is a dive loop that really shows that the ride has a rattle. It's there throughout the whole ride but the worst part is the dive loop. Following it the ride is left with more forceless elements including a hill with no airtime. I didn't have too high of expectations to this but I was still disappointed and it makes it even worse how the former coaster on this plot of land looked incredible.
