I'm sure this was a great ride back in 1990, but it's not the best now. There are some good aspects to this ride, such as the height and interesting layout. The first drop is pretty good and the best of any arrow looper I've ridden. The first section with the vertical loops is pretty intense and not too rattly, but then the second half is worse. The batwing is quite uncomfortable, as well as the transitions in and out of the corkscrews. I would not be sad if they replaced this with a new large-scale coaster.

This family-thrill coaster was the worlds first steel coaster with a loop and has served an important role in the Magic Mountain lineup since its opening. This is an excellent coaster for someone's first inversion, given it is fairly tame and the loop itself is not too intense. The ride is situated on the front side of the mountain and makes several passes by the front plaza, greeting guests as they walk into the park. The layout is long and has a very nice location going through the trees on the mountainside. The ride consists mostly of mild hills and banked turns aside from the signature element; the vertical loop. There are no intense positive or lateral forces, though the loop itself provides some solid Gs. Another weak point is the pacing as there are several dead spots along the ride. This the only tame inverting coaster at Magic Mountain, and I hope it stays and fills that position for a long time.

This is a very fun family coaster, especially given the era that this was built. Ninja winds around the backside of the Magic Mountain hillside, making it somewhat of a terrain coaster. It winds by some trees and over water features as well making the setting very pleasant. This is also somewhat intense for a family coaster as you pick up some considerable speed and swing around the turns. This is a well rounded family/thrill coaster.

Superman has some flaws, but it is overall a decent ride. It is unique in that you are launched backwards out of the station, and while the launch is not the most forceful, it is still quite fun as you can't see where you are going and you are accelerating for a long time. You get some weightlessness as you go up the tower, but the bulky restraints admittedly take away from that feeling. My biggest issue with this ride is that it only goes 2/3 up the tower, and even then the launch section is well above ground level. Nowadays you're lucky if the whole cart reaches the red section of the tower, which is only about 250 ft above the launch elevation. Though this ride is historic, I wouldn't mind seeing it removed and having the tower repurposed for a new and improved strata coaster.

There isn't any airtime or other crazy forces, but it's still a solid ride. This is a great supporting coaster to the MM lineup and I hope it stays for the foreseeable future.

My first ride on X2 back in 2012 blew me away. The first drop is unparalleled, the inversions are crazy, and there are several very intense moments at the bottom of the elements. This ride has some mixed reviews, and even I didn't like it so much in the past, as it can be very rough depending on where you sit. From my experience, I have found that you can have more comfortable rides if you sit in the front row (that which leaves the station first), as it rattles less than other rows. In contrast, the back row has more shakiness but it is the most intense ride you will get, especially on the raven turns. I would only rank X2 third in the park, but it still deserves to be appreciated as a revolutionary coaster with forces and feelings you can't get on any other model.

This classic IAD woodie was record breaking for the time, and it still offered a fun experience 35 years later. The layout was typical for a coaster from the 70s, consisting of drops and airtime hills. The best parts of the ride were the speed hill after the second drop, which did give some airtime, as well as the first drop. The weakest parts of the ride were the turnarounds, which were slow and offered little in the way of laterals. It was also somewhat rough, but that did not take away from the enjoyment factor. Colossus will be missed, but there is no doubting it is better in it's new RMC form.

Pony Express is a decent family coaster and prefect for a kid's first launch. The launch itself is fairly forceful, but the rest of the layout is pretty uneventful, simply consisting of some mild turns in a simple figure eight layout. The seating position is fun on these models, which also adds to the fun factor. The line can also moves pretty slowly on this coaster, especially when they only run one train, so get here earlier in the day when visiting.

This is a very fun ride but also much shorter than expected. Though there aren't a large number of elements, they all stand out on their own. The first launch is very forceful, the loop is huge with amazing hangtime, and the dive loop is snappy. In the second half, you again get hangtime in the backwards launch and finally you get an intense pop of ejector coming off the top hat. If the ride had a couple more elements going around the full throttle plaza, this could be a much higher ranked ride. However, length aside, this is still an awesome coaster.

The layout is also less exciting compared to Riddler's Revenge, though it's hard to focus on that when your legs feel like they are being trampled by a herd of elephants. Twisted Colossus is an amazing coaster with a long but fast paced layout. All the hills provide intense airtime, the inversions are whippy, so it is everything you expect from an RMC. Even when it is not dueling, the ride is fantastic, and a dueling ride is a cherry on top. However, no one should ignore the fact that this ride is supposed to duel every time and it doesn't. When I include "Reliability" as a Con, I am referring to its dueling and not so much the maintenance aspect. My only major complaint is the inconsistency of dueling. Often the trains are only 10-15 seconds away from dueling, so it seems like only a minor programming change is needed. I would even go as far to say I would wait longer in line for slower operations as long as it is always duels. Even with this issue, it is still #1 at the park for me.

From my couple of rides that I got on Ultra Twister I can say it is a very unique ride, but has some problems as well. The lift system is very cool and gives you an interesting sensation. The ride is not too rough, but the brakes are quite jolting, and especially at the halfway point. You NEED to brace yourself hard for those brakes as it instantly stops and if you don't, you'll get forcefully shoved into your restraints. After that, the backwards heart-line rolls are very fun, and then the ride comes to an end. The best parts about the ride are the heart-line rolls and first drop. Also, note that the capacity is pretty terrible, so ride this first if it's crowded. While this ride isn't the best at the park, I hope it stays because of its rarity and uniqueness.

This was my first S&S Free Spin, and I remember enjoying it very much. I had ridden Green Lantern at Magic Mountain a couple times before, so my expectations were not the best, but I was happily surprised. Though I don't remember much from this ride, I remember having positive experience. The best part (as with most fliers) was the pretzel loop with its insane intensity. The rest of the ride was fine, and the layout is much better then the Superman clones. Acrobat is a perfect fit for the park as there is nothing else like it around. I would even say it is top three in the park, so no complaints here.

Helix is a fantastic ride at a fantastic park in the fantastic Göteborg. This has almost everything you want in an elite coaster including a long terrain layout, multiple fun inversions, launches (albeit not very forceful), strong airtime, and whippy transitions. I especially love the two airtime hills that provide ejector and the "Norwegian Loop" which provides laterals as you flip around. While I agree that the launches are pretty weak, that does not knock this ride down from being a masterpiece and a 5/5 coaster. Also, the queue has an awesome aesthetic, and is a modern architectural piece on its own, with stairs and walkways winding around, above, and below each other. Also, you can't forget the amazing Helix soundtrack, which sets the tone of mystery and suspense before the ride. Helix is one of the best examples of how Swedish Parks put quality over quantity into their lineups.

Wildfire is the type of coaster I wish would happen in America; A huge terrain coaster with a long layout, bringing a regional park into the global spotlight. Kolmarden and RMC knocked it out of the park with this one, creating a masterpiece and putting this park on the bucket list of almost every coaster enthusiast. The location is breathtaking, and shows off some of Sweden's most beautiful landscapes. At ground level you are in a forest with rocky hillsides climbing around you, but then at the top you see the vast forests on peninsulas and scattered islands in the waters of the Southeast Coast. The coaster flies through the wooded hills and natural rock-work that make up Kolmarden, interacting masterfully with the terrain. The first half of the ride is definitely the best, especially the 1-2-3 punch that is the first three elements; The almost vertical 160 ft drop followed by the massive Zero-G stall and then the huge outward banked turn. The layout after the first three elements focuses on twists and turns with a couple barrel rolls thrown in as well. There may not be many airtime moments, but that is not the focus of this ride as a terrain coaster. I would agree the pacing is weak towards the last third, especially around the last hill, but even that doesn't take away from this being a 5 star attraction. This park is a must-do if you're touring Scandinavia, as Wildifire has set a high initial bar for European RMCs.

This was my first Vekoma FSC, and I was happy with my experience. I had heard some unfavorable things about this ride type before, but this turned out to be an all around great family coaster. The theming was good and inline with the rest of this park. The whole layout is suspended over the walkways in the back corner of the park, so you are flying over the buildings and guests. While the coaster is short, it was an exceptionally smooth ride, and still very enjoyable. The largest downside is the capacity as this can only run one train, and it was very popular with the other guests. However, I am now looking forward to riding other FSC variants.

Before riding this I heard that it was supposedly better than Green Lantern, and I would say that is true to some degree. The discomfort from the restraints and jarring transitions are still present, but it is slightly less pronounced than on Green Lantern. I also felt that there was more flipping than on Green lantern, which made the experience more thrilling. If you set your expectations correctly and brace yourself, this ride can actually be enjoyable.

The coaster is not too intense (because of its scale), but there were several pops of airtime that were nice surprises. I was very much looking forward to this ride when coming to Luna Park as I followed its construction back in 2014. But along with other coasters at this park, it was a disappointment. The huge lap-bars are cumbersome and uncomfortable. The train rattles horribly through the whole ride, making an otherwise interesting layout un-enjoyable. The airtime was forgettable and the inversions had some serious track profiling issues (just look at them up close!). The only two redeeming parts of this ride were the drop and vertical loop, which thankfully were not painful.

Basically everything after the launch was one long dead spot, as the rest of the layout consists of meandering around some mild banked turns. there are no steep drops or airtime hills, so there are no real positive or negative forces. Without the launch, this would probably lose another star. Just do it once for the credit.

I had ridden Tatsu and Acrobat before this, so this smaller scale version was not going to perform like the others. The pretzel loop is the stand-out moment in the ride, but all the other elements are still fun. The ride is smooth and comfortable, but besides the pretzel loop, there are no other intense forces. It still acts as a good supporting coaster to the lineup.

This was my first B&M Hyper, and it was about what I expected. After riding El Toro a couple times, the airtime did feel weak, but the floater was still fun. My favorite parts were the intense helix before the MCBR and then the bunny hills leading towards the end which also had good airtime. I feel like I would enjoy this more if there was more airtime on the big hills, so I'm hoping I will get better rides in the future on Nitro. I also must note that I absolutely love the restraints. This is my first time with these clamshell lap bars, and they are extremely comfortable and provide an open-air experience.

Kingda Ka is a very thrilling ride that I feel is hated on too much. I rode this after riding TTD and Xcellerator, but I was not let down at all by this ride. I will admit that I've only ridden Kingda Ka and TTD once each, and in the front row for both, which arguably changes the experience. However, for now I am still rating Kingda Ka over TTD still for several reasons. First, it's been a long time (6+ yrs) since I rode TTD, so I do not remember the specifics from that ride very well. Some things that people complain about with Kingda Ka are the restraints and the rattle. I honestly did not feel any distracting rattle in the front seat, and the over-the-shoulder restraints did not get in my way. The pure sense of speed during the launch is the best part of this ride, as the wind is whipping your face. The 270 degree twisting drop is also crazy, and the airtime hill actually did provide a little. This gets a star off for its length and reliability. I hope to ride this and TTD closer together in the future to make better comparisons.
