Great theming, but a terrible ride. it has a dark tunnel full of flashing lights and when you don't suspect a thing, the litterral tracks drop down 20 feet and you get launched into a drop. I'm an extreme roller coaster lover, but I hated this. This is the work of the demon! Destroy it!

The launches kick hard, with the trademark whine/squeal of LSM launches. Intense whip transitions inside the show building, and heavy laterals during the former Big Bad Wolf turns. The end of the show...

The launches kick hard, with the trademark whine/squeal of LSM launches. Intense whip transitions inside the show building, and heavy laterals during the former Big Bad Wolf turns. The end of the show building is a great surprise, riding for the first time. But all that energy is just wasted with the stop-and-go pacing. I realize this is for capacity, and to not knock the power out in the park, but it makes for dead spots. The capacity is excellent so long as they are loading two trains in the station at once. The ride has great presentation in the queue and station, the ride vehicles, and the roof on the top of the main hill. That said, the show building is a joke, a barely themed warehouse that's easily beaten by the likes of Kennywood's Exterminator or Great Adventure's Dark Knight Coaster. This is why it earns a Disappointing from me. Verbolten failed to fill the original Big Bad Wolf's role as an introductory, first big coaster for the kids, but filled a new role as the intense blitz coaster. But now that we have Pantheon as the flagship blitz coaster, DarKoaster as a somewhat tamer (though sadly still 48" minimum) fully indoor coaster, and finally a 42" minimum offering in The Wolf's Revenge in the Drachen Fire plot, Verbolten earns a Tear It Down for being the only coaster to make me vomit, and for taking up prime real estate that could go to a new flagship coaster - a flying coaster would be my dream.

Verbolten is a more intense family launch coaster located in the Germany section of the park. It has excellent theming to that of the Autobahn with race car trains and a station resembling a pit stop. It features 2 launches, with the first keeping your momentum right into it before you enter a dark indoor section resembling the Black Forest. This ride is incredibly unique due to the track suddenly dropping to a lower section at the midpoint of the ride. I can’t think of any other rides that do this. You finish with the 2nd launch before the famed banked drop on the river which was The Big Bad Wolf’s signature feature. Great ride!

When I first rode it, it was my favorite before I got on the next door roller coaster, Griffon. I met someone the other day who was German and she pronounced it as "Weroaten." Which actually means forbidden. I love the surprise elements and now when I stop I'm the indoor section, I know I'm gonna fall, it cam be intimidating until you fall, then a gallon of adrenaline in shot into you! On roller coasters, I've found that screaming "huzzah" enhances my ride experience, when I rode this my only words were "hazzuf!" This shuts down constantly though! I can never rely on going to Busch and riding Verbolten because everytime I get there it's closed! I will warn yall that it is not that smooth and gives quite the rattle, but your restraints are foam padded.

This one was so much fun and I couldn't wait to get back in line! The theming is fantastic and I'm obsessed with the German lady voiceover. It's just too cute, "Auf Wiedersehen!" This has probably been spoiled in the past but there's also a fantastic surprise at some point in the ride duration which makes this so cool. The lighting and theming in the indoor section is fantastic and I think it's done better than DarKoaster. It gives such a spooky feel to it. My only noticeable con is how apparent the dead spots are. It doesn't kill the ride experience but it has very awkward pauses throughout the duration that inhibit the momentum. It's still a fantastic ride though. 4/5 stars

I came into this predisposed against it, because it replaced my first "big" roller coaster and one of my all-time favorites, the Big Bad Wolf. However, I was pleasantly surprised overall. The indoor section is incredibly intense, making me start to grey out a bit the first time I rode it. The drop track was also a nice surprise, especially when riding from the middle or back of the train. The final drop has quite a bit of rattle though and that's just about as much rattle as I can take without getting a headache. I put Theming as both a Pro and a Con for this one. The reason for that is because the queue line and the station have Disney-level theming, but the theming in the indoor section of ride seemed to be mostly defunct when I rode it, resulting in confusing dead spots.

No other ride at BGW did that for me. There are some dead spots but overall it's such a fun coaster. More intense than I expected but nothing insane like i305. Very much worth the wait.

Because it uses rather loose restraints the drop actually hits better than Hagrid's, which is the only other one in the country. I'm surprised most people call this a family coaster, the helix in the black forest was shockingly intense in the back. My only complaint is that the back row had a rather pronounced rattle, which made it just a little uncomfortable. 7.5/10 - if you think about it this is kind of like Hagrid's before Hagrid's

A couple years ago, this used to be my favorite ride (although I haven't been since then, I need to come back), now I think it's a great ride but it's not perfect. The theming is pretty good but I prefer a good ride over good theming, unlike Disney... this actually does the job. It's a great ride, the first launch kicks things off to a start, then into the "Black Forest". The indoor section is surprisingly forceful, that was probably the biggest roller coaster surprise that I had. There are different "shows", either a storm, a spirit theme, or a wolf one (as one of the many nods to the former Big Bad Wolf coaster), then comes probably the most intense part of the ride. There is a drop track, and it gives off a sudden pop of airtime. The car escapes the "Black Forest" into the second launch which is the most disappointing part of the ride, there is a ton of space to work... they could've made it go through a village like Big Bad Wolf did. That would make Verbolten a top-tier family coaster (even though it already is). Then the ride goes to a "broken bridge" as the trains go to a slow-down, then the biggest drop of the ride pays homage to Big Bad Wolf, as with a turn against the Rhine River, then upwards into another turn into the brake run. The turns in this scene are forceful.

I never rode Big Bad Wolf but I can't imagine that came anywhere close to the amazingness of this super unique zierer multi launch. From the very solid and pretty forceful launches to the insanely intense indoor helix and turns to the awesome 3 different themed scenarios and drop track and even some good airtime, this is one of the coolest launched coasters out there.
