It is a very good ride, but I wouldn't say it's a very good roller coaster. The initial tilting drop is very unique, but beyond that the ride feels sluggish. The spinning helps it be more enjoyable, but the ride feels like more of a regular dark ride that speeds up occasionally. It relies a bit too much on screens when many scenes are stationary and could use physical props instead. The story elements and the queue carry it, making it a rather fun experience, but not really as a coaster. The ride also feels like it ends too soon. What is quite cool is seeing the motion track in some sections of the ride. The track moves far more than it feels like it should. Consider taking a look behind you when the cart "falls", it's very interesting.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is not your typical roller coaster. I wouldn’t exactly call it a coaster: as it’s more like a dark ride with screens that has roller coaster elements. I will say that some of the sudden drops and turns sync well with what’s happening on the screens whether we’re on a minecart trying to escape from goblins or fighting a huge dragon. It immerses you in a story and it’s tough to rate this when comparing it to your conventional coaster. It doesn’t have a lift hill or launches but is still an entertaining experience nonetheless.

This one was a pretty solid ride! The theming and 3D experience carry the enjoyment of this one. It has some intense elements, and the 3D effect with video screens makes it more intense and immersive than it is in reality. The duration of the ride is also super long so if you've waited a long time to ride you at least get an entire coaster/dark ride experience. They even throw in water elements and heat during specific moments in the story. I'm knocking it on capacity but it might be an illusion. It seems like they get a big group into a room plus the "elevator" ride so they were going for a full queue experience but I can imagine how backed-up lines can be if you have to stand through a whole video. There were also questionable dead spots throughout the ride but the pacing wasn't horrible either. It just knocked the experience down a bit. 3.5/5 stars

Overall, this ride is an incredible technological marvel with the rotating coaches, the tilt track, and a couple of other effects tracks. Only Intamin would design something so crazy and it is incredible they got it working as well as they did. As a coaster, however, it is a very short but sweet ride followed by 5 or 6 (albeit cleverly-disguised) MCBRs. What's there is fun, but there just isn't enough of it to make a complete ride.

La partie coaster est décevante et se fait pour aller de salle de projection en salle de projection, la 3D était plutôt floue et donnait mal à la tête. On avait pas envie de le refaire en sortant. De beaux écrans en 2D avec une définition impeccable et cela aurait été bien mieux !!

The ride hardware itself is one of the coolest collections of amusement technology anywhere, and the physical sets are massive and impressive. However, the ride film and story happen to be from an era where Universal forgot how to write a good script. The story is rote and unmemorable and the stakes are nonexistent. If the story was anywhere near as good as Universal’s better dark rides, this ride could have been something truly special.

This thing blew me away and I know a 3.5 stars doesn’t really suggest that but it did, the queue is so well themed and the ride is really good too. I don’t rank it too high due to its lower thrill factor and I remember the queue more than the ride experience but it’s a must-do attraction either way. Oh, and I saw the real Gringotts filming location 2.5 years later which was cool.

This dark ride/coaster hybrid is one of the best experiences at Universal. Everything from the queue to the ride itself is filled with little easter eggs and themes from the Harry Potter franchise. I haven't watched or read too many of the books and movies but it was still awesome seeing everything there was. The dark ride sections alone make this a great ride but some of the coaster elements are great too. The tilt track TOTALLY caught me off guard and really kicked off the ride with a bang. The rest of the ride has a great and easy to follow story. Overall amazing ride and you should totally do it if at Universal.

Another instance of Universal pushing style over substance too far, I don't really class this as a rollercoaster. It isn't an unpleasant ride, but utterly forgettable. Considering the "similar", but superb Mummy is just round the corner from it I was expecting more from this. Our first ride on this was in the front row, which I found involved much neck-craning to watch the film on the run into the first drop. I am sure that it is only a matter of time that someone will suffer problems from the drop-and-turn into the dark while trying to watch the effects. A later repeat ride in the back row was better for being able to see the effects. The restraints are somewhat condensed, combined lap-and-ankle bar affairs that cause difficulties for access for decidedly average sized people too. My favourite aspect of the whole ride was walking into the lobby of the bank, in the queue line. For a major ride by an operator with basically unlimited budget, a real miss in my book.

C'est un excellent mix entre un dark ride et un coaster, bien que ça tienne plus du 1er selon moi. L'entrée dans la banque de Gringotts et plus généralement la file d'attente est magnifique, clairement l'une des meilleures que j'ai vu. Les trains sont jolis, ils partent rapidement, le débit n'a pas l'air mauvais du tout. SPOILER. Pour ce qui est du ride en lui-même, j'aurais aimé plus de parties coaster, celles-ci sont effectivement constituées d'une petite drop après le rail qui s'incline (très fun effet), deux trois virages et un petit launch à la fin. Pour le reste, on est très bien immergé dans l'histoire grâce aux écrans et lunettes 3D. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas peut-être quelques pièces réelles pour rendre encore plus immersif l'attraction. Autre petit problème : les lunettes 3D qui peuvent tomber très facilement. Bref une expérience à faire bien que en deçà de certaines du resort selon moi.

Gringotts is a fun ride. The queue is gorgeous and the theming on the ride is incredible as well. The coaster sections of the ride are nowhere near as good as the other Universal coasters, however. The mini tilt track is cool and the launch into the spinning section is fun but these sections are short and nothing special. Judging the ride as a coaster it is good but not great, as a dark ride however it is amazing.

Théma de dingue bien sûr, cependant il faut être à l'aise avec la 3D tout en étant en mouvement, quand on en a fait plusieurs dans la même journée ça peut tourner la tête ^^ Mais que dire, c'est une immersion totale et on a l'impression de vivre ce passage du livre/film, comme si on y était. Peu importe les sensations, de toute façon on tripe. Ils sont tellement forts pour çà chez Universal, c'est dingue.

Personnellement j'ai été fort déçu de cette attraction. Certes la thématisation est magnifique dès la file d'attente jusqu'au ride même, mais malgré le potentiel la partie coaster n'a aucun intérêt. Le train nous fait simplement avancer et on enchaîne les écrans (géants) 3D distillant peu à peu une histoire au final incompréhensible en ce qui concerne ce qu'on est en train de faire sur place. Tout est prétexte à du fan service en lien direct avec un passage des films. C'est plutôt beau visuellement mais qu'elles sont inconfortables ces lunettes 3D! Lourdes, on a l'impression qu'elles pourraient tomber à n'importe quel instant. En bref : autant considérer l'attraction simplement comme un dark ride de bonne facture. C'est un peu l'opposé d'un Uncharted qui a une thématisation inexistante mais une composante coaster très dynamique.

La cola es impresionante. La estación maravillosa y la tematización en general es una joya para lo simple que es la atracción en cuanto a recorrido. Corta e incomoda ha que hay que llevar gafas 3D que debido a los cambios de dirección bruscos salen prácticamente volando si no te las sujetas. Es tan incomodo este aspecto que no disfruté la experiencia además que se me pasó volada la coaster.

Was incredibly disappointed by this. I think most the reviews are just blinded by Harry Potter. Wasn’t impressed with the effects AT ALL, and the coaster itself might as well be a monorail. Zero thrill. All spectacle, and even as a dark ride it’s still bad. Again I think you have to really like Potter to overlook this rides many flaws.
