Leap the Dips at Lakemont Park is a historic treasure since it is the oldest operating roller coaster in the world. This scenic railway-style wooden coaster offers a unique and charming ride experience that isn't anywhere else. Despite its small size, Leap the Dips delivers some fun airtime moments. The modest drops provide gentle pops of airtime, especially in the back of the car. It is not intense by modern standards, but the airtime adds to the old-school charm. However, the ride does have some dead spots. Certain sections, particularly the slower turns and flatter portions, do not add much excitement. The ride is more about the historical experience than high-thrill elements. Overall, Leap the Dips is a fun and nostalgic ride that offers a rare glimpse into coaster history. While it has some dead spots, the charm and uniqueness of this classic make it worth experiencing at least once.

This ride absolutely throws you. This ride has better airtime than the Phoenix in my opinion. Leap the Dips only has a few moments of air, but it's some of the best airtime you'll ever get on a coaster, mainly because the vehicle has no restraint. This ride isn't the most exciting, after all, it's the oldest operating roller coaster on earth, but it manages to hold up. Definitely give this historic coaster a ride. Just be sure to ride in the front row, unless you want your back blown out.

I grew up spending my summers at Lakemont Park always walking by this thing and hearing that they were going to restore it but never seeing any work being done. Then suddenly they fixed it up and I had to ride it. It was a very unique experience. It's very weird when the cars actually do "leap" off the track a bit after the Dips. I fear that it won't survive long now with Lakemont Park going downhill though.

don't let the people claiming this thing has crazy airtime fool you. it throws you a bit, which is admittedly neat with no restraint, but it's nowhere near the level of something like phoenix. you don't ride leap the dips for airtime, you ride it because it's a living fossil. keep your expectations for the actual ride experience low and you'll come out pleasantly surprised like i did.

Historically significant as a museum piece, so lucky to have experienced it. We are convinced the sign in the station says "Crap the Dips" too; due to odd choice of gothic font.
