the entire time i was banging my head on the seat it hurt so bad i had the worst headache ever after this ride, despite the un-comfort; this ride was pretty okay. but to describe the un-comfort the seating was horrible so brace yourself if you decide to go on this because you WILL hurt your head I felt i had no control over my head nor neck.

Boring, Carowinds ran one train and we waited 3 hours during a school week. Carowinds removed Nighthawk, kick this too and drop a massive woodie on both plots. Not even Michigan's Adventure would deserve this bad of a ride, why have it at a headliner park?

Malheureusement Vortex est trop inconfortable pour profiter pleinement de l'expérience "Stand UP", beaucoup de baffes notamment en entame de Corkscrew, malgré cela la first drop est très sympa et le Loop plutôt planant mais bien moins que sur un Green Lantern par exemple. A noter beaucoup de pannes également lors de toutes mes visites, il faut donc le rider rapidement en arrivant au parc.

This coaster is highly uncomfortable to ride, rough, and the track layout is extremely "generic". Ride it once to check it off the list and will most likely never again. 1. Will bang your head side to side against restraints 2. Like most standing coasters will hurt your man parts 3. Super generic and disappointing layout. Single banked drop into a vertical loop, into double corkscrew. No air time or hang time. The park already has a generic arrow looper so this coaster does not add anything to the lineup.

This was my first stand-up coaster and I liked it much better than I was expecting given what I've read about them. (For what it is worth, I was in the front row, which seems to be the best place to ride these.) The inversions are fun and taking them while standing up definitely gives a unique experience and increases the intensity. I personally didn't experience any crotch pain or headbanging. There wasn't any rattle of which to speak despite this being only the third coaster B&M ever built. It isn't the best coaster in the park, but I found it to be underrated.

It didn’t make much impression on me. I was forced to ride it in the half-crouched position. These standup B&M’s are just dumb because why would standing on our feet make a ride better? How about a coaster where we pedal a bicycle? Maybe they could make a coaster where we run on a treadmill! Maybe they make a coaster where we try to give each other haircuts?

When I rode this for the first time 8 years ago I called it the worst roller coaster ever. I expected to have a similar opinion after riding it again, but surprisingly I actually quite enjoyed it! I'll admit that I'm weird and sometimes enjoy riding defensively, so that plays a part here, but once you learn how to properly position the stand-up restraints you will experience no crotch pain and minimal headbanging. To have the best ride on Vortex, though, you absolutely have to ride in the front right position. Any farther back and you will headbang, and any further left and the corkscrew will be painful. Thankfully this ride barely gets a line so you should be able to no problem. 7/10 - as a ride op I was assigned to this coaster but it was closed all summer so not only did I never touch it but it was also my last Carowinds credit

I was pretty shocked by this ride. My only other experience with a standing coaster was on Scorcher at SFOG and this is waaaaay better than Scorcher. Not near as uncomfortable and way smoother, it is actually a pretty enjoyable coaster. The kicker is that it starts to get uncomfortable by the time you’re getting back to the load station and Carowinds never puts good operators on this coaster. Give it a try if you’re near it and the lines are short for sure, you maybe surprised.

Sans être forcément à raser, Vortex est dans doute le plus mauvais B&M que j’ai fait. Mesurant 1m80, c’est plutôt bien passé : pas de grosses baffes à signaler. Cependant le concept est totalement dépassé et l’intensité très présente peut être désagréable dans cette position. Le layout très compact est à des années lumières de celui d’un Riddler’s Revenge en terme d’intérêt. Une conversion en Floorless pourrait être envisagée par le parc pour le rendre plus agréable à rider mais tout ce qu’on gagnerait au change serait un Floorless sans doute insipide… Aussi le débit est totalement catastrophique tournant à un seul train et un dispatch toutes les 8 minutes…

A solid ride that is unfortunately hampered by the restraints. They're very uncomfortable and provide very little wiggleroom. The layout is fine, but nothing really to write home about. There is a noticeable rattle and headbanging, but only in a few sections and I didn't find it to be too unbearable. Overall, I think Vortex is just okay. Most of my main grievances would be solved if it was converted into a floorless. It would also cut down on the long dispatches too.

This is technically a roller coaster and bc it is a rollercoaster, it gets a rating. I think the layout is ok. The ride itself is not. Everyone's shouting for a floorless conversion and it would help....

Vortex takes the worst of standup coasters and puts it into one ride, the headbanging is unbearable and the rattle is constant throughout the ride. A floorless conversion would not help this ride much and to be honest is does fit the parks lineup, but oh boy is it terrible. The only reason I give this a full star is it has a solid level of intensity that gives it a redeeming quality so i think that is important to mention. Overall its a disappointing b&m coaster that stands to show us all how far b&m has come.

Vortex is easily the worst B&M coaster I've ever ridden. After the loop, the ride becomes an endless barrage of painful elements. It's not so bad that it isn't fun, but it is bad enough that it's certainly not a good coaster. I hope this either gets torn down or has a floorless conversion, because Vortex is not Carowinds's finest work.

A rare B&M Stand-Up that has yet to be converted to a Floorless. While the layout is decently intense while standing, it's just entirely too short to really offer much to riders. Standing coasters don't bother me (in fact I quite like them), but these early layouts with just a few elements just kinda suck; converting this one to a Floorless wouldn't fix the layout issues at all, and would just make a mediocre standing ride into a mediocre sitting ride.

Vortex deserves too much hate in my opinion. It’s a solid B&M coaster, certainly one that packs an unassuming punch, and doesn’t have a lot of roughness compared to other rides like Rougarou or Batman...

Vortex deserves too much hate in my opinion. It’s a solid B&M coaster, certainly one that packs an unassuming punch, and doesn’t have a lot of roughness compared to other rides like Rougarou or Batman: The Ride. This is my fifth favorite coaster at Carowinds, behind Intimidator, Copperhead Strike, Afterburn and Fury 325.

Honestly, this ride gets so much more hate than it deserves. I rode this ride this past weekend and it was running beautifully and it was never that bad in the years previous. I find standing slightly on your tip-toes makes the ride a lot better. I did not get any headbanging, only part I kind of had to brace I guess was the corkscrew, which has a hell of a whip. The turn around after the loop has a very fun spot to jump at and the helix is surprisingly good, one of my favorites! The seats this 2018 season seem to have become easier to move up and down, which was probably my biggest complaint before.
