Wildcat is the park’s oldest coaster and is the designated centerpiece of the park: it’s located right in the middle with attractions surrounding it. That being said this is a very classic experience with dips and turns that give off Cyclone vibes. Don’t let its image fool you, this ride is very intense from start to finish with crazy rattling despite the park re-tracking some of the bad sections. The ops aren’t great on this ride and the line moves quite slow even with 2 trains. It definitely feels ancient after riding it, but it’s classic fun.

Wildcat is slowly getting new lumber and it’s great in those new sections as of July 2024 but the end is where it really jackhammers around in the neglected parts. What was this park thinking just letting their coasters slowly rot? Thank goodness they are finally doing something about it. It’s really a gem of a layout.

I knew it would be rough going in but it was kind of fun because it's honestly comically rough. Like you are jackhammering up and down so high it's funny.

Fun Discomfort

Like many people have said, up until the final hills, the ride is solid. It is a complete difference in smoothness. Glad they did the track work.

Wildcat has been heavily improved, but it still isn’t fully fixed from the Gravity Group retrack. Before getting on, the capacity feels atrocious. 14 people on one train ops. You can see another train, but it isn’t running. On a quiet Sunday, it was a 45 minute wait while the second longest wait I experienced was 15 minutes. The restraints aren’t terrible, but I vastly prefer PTC restraints for their increased room for airtime. First drop is rough but tolerable. First turnaround isn’t noteworthy, and neither are the following turnarounds. The retracted airtime hills provide some decent floater. At this point, the ride is a solid 3.5-4 stars thanks to the pretty smooth experience. The final third of the ride is entirely different. The final turnaround provokes a constant trend of jackhammering. On the final hills, it can get so bad to the point that it’s laughable. My 2 rides were in the last 2 rows and those were probably the roughest rows, but it’s still questionable that the whole ride was like this. With that being said, my first rides on wildcat were mostly good, but they still need to retrack the finale at some point.

Discomfort Intensity

I give this ride 3 stars for my fun rides I had on it before it became incredibly rough in recent years. After riding it on one of its last days open before closing for the entirety of 2023, it was hilariously bad. I've never experienced anything with so much jackhammering and rough spots that I had to ride it a 2nd time for how uniquely bad the experience was. Even the very front row was laughably rough and the constant groans and moans could be heard from the back of the train for the majority of the ride. The first drop and the following turn were fun and smooth, but every valley afterwards was just constant jackhammering. Approaching the brakes, all speed was lost and we barely made it up the final hill into the brake run. Will never forget how this rode, and I'm very interested to see what happens to this ride after the 2023 season.

This is overall a solid and classic ride. I love that the chain lift gives you a great view of the entrance of the park. There is really no theming accept a nice entrance. I know that they have only been using one train lately so be prepared to wait because lines could get long. I do think they have the capability to run 2 but they choose not two. Yes, the ride is shaky but not as bad as Boulder Dash and the air time here and there pays off for it. It is most definitely a ride you have to do when you visit the oldest running theme park or Lake Compounce.
