Theming Inversions Rattle Headbanging
A pretty good Gerstlauer. Awesome theming with some great drops and inversions. This ride would be higher rated if the first half was as good as the second. The ride is a little rattly though and the restraints do bang your head some.

Theming Duration Headbanging
an experience. a must-do. bonkers layout and pacing. headbanging was a problem for me and i never complain about that stuff. on re-rides it would be better bc you know what to expect. fantastic theming and effects though, great vertical drops and lifts and hangtime is great. sidenote: best tshirt in the park.

Theming Hangtime Headbanging Capacity
This ride has great theming and is one of the best themes non Disney rides I've been on. This coaster has bad capacity, so expect to wait some. The restraints are not the best and the first drop and turn give some nasty headbanging. The first vertical lift leads you into the tiny dips before a vertical drop and some fun turns. You stop and rise again up a taller lift and drop down into a barrel roll into a hangtime filled dive loop. Then the ride ends.

Theming Nice surprise! Fun
This was the biggest surprise of the trip. That is saying something for a park with Lightning Rod in it. We rode this more than any other coaster. It is just plain fun. It is full of surprises that I won't give away. The first time you ride it you will have no idea what is happening or where you are going. Sure, it isn't 100% liquid smooth, and it definitely isn't anywhere near the tallest or fastest, but it simply delivers fun like few coasters can.

Theming Hangtime Rattle Dead spots
Mystery Mine is an amazing ride and a terrible coaster. It is extraordinarily well themed most of the way through the ride. The theming complements the roller coaster sections extremely well. Unfortunately, the roller coaster sections are not generally very good. The first half feels pointless, as you just slowly maneuver in circles on the side of a hill. The second half is really short, but do be ready for some extreme hangtime on the final inversion. It may not be a great roller coaster, but it has a spectacular finale, and amazing theming that makes it a must-do at Dollywood.

Theming Hangtime Headbanging Capacity Dead spots
I liked Mystery Mine a lot more way back in October 2016, praising it as the 3rd best coaster at Dollywood. But after a reride in December 2017, I began to dislike this coaster more and more for some reason. I remembered the significant amount of headbanging, and how most of the ride, bar for the 95° drop and pair of inversions, is one massive “dead spot”. Headbanging is prevalent in the drop preceeding the first lift, and the jaunt succeeding the first lift. I often waited around 30-40 minutes for this coaster, and while it is a long ride most of it is spent meandering around the mineshafts (which are very elaborately themed, by the way). For me, the best moment of Mystery Mine is the hangtime in the inversions. This is a decent coaster that could be vastly improved with lap bars.

Nice surprise!
This is a different beast compared to your standard Gerstlauer Eurofighter - I call it the 'small Fluch von Novgorod'. In contrast to its cousins, you often don't see what's ahead on the track, which adds a lot of surprising moves to the ride.
