Capacity Comfort Harness Too short Theming Layout
Out of X sector, this ride actually is so much scarier than the smiler, it's so intimidating going up the lift hill waiting for the drop.
-
First Drop Theming Intensity Too short
This ride is so good except for the fact that it lasts like 20 seconds, but it does have good theming and also the feeling when you plumet down into the abyss is so good.
-
First Drop Capacity Ejectors Too short
Absolutely love this ride. the airtime completely makes up for the short length. Always keeps getting more fun each time I ride it, and the queues are always incredibly short (sometimes an hour shorter than displayed for me).

Comfort Intensity Layout Too short
My friend and I went on this during lunchtime, and I had a night ride while waiting for friends to come off the Smiler as it was a walk-on. The fear that it builds as you go up the lift hill and the theme around the coaster itself is great, and also, the views at the top are really good. I don't think it matters where you sit on this as you get great views on the daytime I had the back row then the night time I was at the front. The drop itself is forceful, and you feel very secure in your seat so you can enjoy the ride without any issues. At the end, you do spend a bit of time in the break run, as others have mentioned. The music track sounds like a 90s Clubland trance techno, which fits the ride well as it opened back in 1998, but the views you also get in the queue line as you're about to get on are also good where you are underneath the left hill.

First Drop Smoothness Too short
I like this ride but I can't rank it any higher just because of the actual ride experience. The drop is very good and the pull-out has some good positive G's but that's it. I get it's a prototype but that doesn't mean it can get away with its flaws. I always ride it when I go to Towers, but I can't help but not be bothered with this ride.

First Drop Intensity Too short
A very fun ride, and my number 3 in the UK. Would definitely give this a go, as it is very fun. The only criticism would be that it is a bit of a one trick pony, but it does it’s job well. Worth a ride.

First Drop Capacity Intensity Too short Layout
I've probably been guilty of overhating Oblivion a bit in the past. I've had a good number of rides on it this year and it's fair to say that the drop is really quite superb, so so intense all the way down. Sure, that's all it is, but it hits hard enough to pull it off. Nice quick moving queue as well, particularly when it's on 2 stations. Being sat on the brake run for ages is a pain though, if anything it runs too many trains! Also it's a stunning night ride, the views of the park and the wider Staffordshire moorlands are just gorgeous, and dropping into total darkness makes the drop feel absolutely massive

First Drop Comfort Fun Theming Layout
oblivon was good as a worlds first but doesnt stand out now because of many other amazing dive coasters.

Theming Masterpiece Intensity Too short
First time trying Oblivion and was super nervous. Being able to stand by the smoky pit on the ground is a nerve-wracking, yet exciting experience in itself, and a good deciding factor in whether or not you want to go on it. The build up to the drop is very exciting, and it's making my heart race just thinking about it after the fact! The drop is of course extremely intense, but as a first time rider, I didn't really mind the shortness or the novelty of it. This was one of the few rides I've been on where I couldn't scream or smile, simply due to how freaked out and overwhelmed I was when in the midst of the drop (the photo of me on it looks like I've literally fainted LOL). It took me a few moments until after the ride was finished to figure out whether or not I liked it. I'm still not sure a week later, and I'm desperate to try it again next year! The mist from the pit in the drop was really refreshing, and makes you feel like you were in a cold sweat from your nerves, adding to the feeling that you just put your body through something wild. I actually love how the theming is very deliberately outdated and almost like the Dance Dance Revolution graphics. Very 90s nightclub and in your face kind of gaudy, which I think they could lean into a bit more. Overall, an insanely exhilarating experience. Hilariously, I can do Oblivion without hesitation, but I've never been able to muster the courage to do Rita (or Stealth at Thorpe Park)!

First Drop Too short
Right. This is a real one trick pony. Being the first B&M dive coaster it is a bit of a novelty, and the sheer ridiculous nature of building the drop in to the ground is so sick. The drop is good, the best at the park (not that there's any competition) and it does it well. I wish they could hold the pause longer, even by 1-2s. The ejector from the drop is pleasant and the fact it even goes underground into darkness and the mist does up the intensity. It is very solid, but not much to it and that's okay.

First Drop Fun Intensity Too short Layout
one of the shortes coaster ever, it's just a drop but it's very fun and intense
-
First Drop Fun Intensity Too short
Oblivion is great it was my first ever big rollercoaster back in 2022 and it was amazing. The first drop is unlike anything and it also goes quite fast down the drop.
-
First Drop Too short
This is a great coaster. This reminds me of the first five seconds of skydiving.
-
First Drop Capacity Nice surprise! Too short
oblivion was good almost shit my pants but was good
-
First Drop Too short
The first drop is better than Oblivion the black hole and very intimidating. Other than that there's nothing, so I still prefer the one in Gardaland.
-
-
First Drop Location Intensity Too short
it only has 1 element but it does that element really well, also the atmosphere the theme of the area is well done
-
First Drop Fun Intensity Too short
This ride is iconic, the feeling of dropping vertical through a hole into the ground is terrifying and so intense. I appreciate that this ride was a first of its kind but it is so short and very much so a one trick pony, that is extremely good at its trick.
-
First Drop Rattle Too short
The drop is really great. Shame thats the entire ride.
-
Theming Masterpiece Intensity Too short Layout
Great little ride to do when the queue is quiet. A lot of the times you can just walk on with no queue on off peak days which is what makes it such a great ride. I love the theming as well, people get critical about how it seems outdated or is lacking in some places but honestly, it's a fantastic theme. It's due a refurbishment soon, just like Nemesis, so whilst I am optimistic as to what could happen, it would also be a bummer to see the old 90s queue line refurbished.
-
Airtimes First Drop Masterpiece Harness
I love this thing, it's amazing. It's such a rush as you descend into the hole after the first drop. The harness sometimes is either too tight or too loose, but most of the time it's perfect!
-
Theming Location Intensity Too short
One of my all-time faves. Yes, it’s super short and it does only one thing - but boy does it do it well! Surprisingly intense drop, incredible noise when you enter the hole, it looks great off-ride and you get superb views of Alton Towers at the top, with time to take it in! An absolute classic dive coaster. Love the theming too. UPDATE: After doing this a few more times, I am getting frustrated with how short it is… Bringing it down to 4.5 therefore

First Drop Capacity Too short Disappointing!
Oblivions first drop is really good. Shame that's literally the entire ride. I think the main flaw with the ride (apart from the duration) is the fact I don't find it that intense. There's not that much airtime on the drop and the valley isn't that intense. I don't know why cause everyone else agrees it's intense but I just don't see it.
-
First Drop Pace Masterpiece Too short
Good drop, but other than that there's basically nothing. Well worth a ride but I wouldn't queue long for it.
-
Theming Masterpiece Intensity
This ride is excellent, very underrated. It has a very intense drop with good floater airtime, awesome theming, and it has a great roar. The layout is short, but I feel like that's a good thing because it adds extra emphasis to the drop.
-
Capacity Smoothness Hangtime Too short
Yes there are other drop-coasters that are higher, steeper and faster, however none match the sheer thrill of oblivion with the near vertical drop into a dark misty chasm where you can't see the bottom. No matter how many times I ride it, it hits with thrills every single time.
-
First Drop Capacity Too short
This ride is a one trick pony. I love the drop, probably the best in the UK before Hyperia opens. But the overbank is nice too. The ride also has quite a high capacity. Not much to say, good ride.
-
First Drop Smoothness Ejectors Too short
Still hold up as an effective dive coaster although it’s been beaten by more modern modifications of this prototype model. Still some great ejector on that drop.
-
-
First Drop Theming Location Too short Layout
I do appreciate that this was a world's first and a prototype. Just wished they could of done a little more after the first drop such as an inversion and an air time hill. Looks so daunting as you approach this attraction. Can understand why it will put a lot of people off
-
First Drop Masterpiece Intensity
I adore this ride. Its polarising reception makes it even more enjoyable. Yes it does one thing but it does it extremely well and I'd rather that than a decent longer coaster anyway i.e. the smiler. Could honestly go on it 100 times and not get bored

-
First Drop Capacity Too short Disappointing! Dead spots
First Drop INCREDIBLE! After That ~ not very good. Break run is also very painful.
-
First Drop Fun Intensity Too short
I absolutely love this rollercoaster; fantastic! Drop is great, theming is great, and overall, usually has great queues. It builds up great anticipation through the queue line, you always seem scared no matter how many times you ride it.

First Drop Masterpiece Smoothness Too short
Lve it. It's too great. Add another 10 drops, and add 30 mph, and add 30m, then this baby is a must-do.
-
First Drop Theming Capacity Too short Harness Layout
I think Oblivion is a snooze fest. I know that this coaster is meant to emphasize its drop, but I think they could've done so much more with it. Heck, I actually prefer Spinball Whizzer. The restraints, the last time I went on it, they pushed it down way too tight, crushing my chest.
-
-
First Drop Too short
Great first drop, but the age is showing. A floorless train update and longer hangtime before the drop would help a lot.
-
First Drop Capacity Too short
valryan at cedar point has 2 drops and inversions, why does oblivion have to be so short?
-
First Drop Too short Layout
Oblivion is perfect as the world's first vertical drop coaster, but over time has become a bit disappointing. Despite this, Oblivion has great re-rideability and comfortable restraints. The suspense that the lift hill and first turn bring is simply fantastic and the drop is amazing, but the layout could definitely use a bit more to it.
-
First Drop Intensity Too short
Last time I went on this dive machine I crashed into a swarm of bees on the brake run. I got stung twice on my leg and my friend got stung in the lip and they had to close the ride down. The ride is decent though.
-
First Drop Theming Capacity Too short
Oblivion is perfect for what it needs to do. Yes the ride may be short, but does it actually need to be longer? The ride is for the drop, and the drop does not dissappoint.
-
First Drop Too short
While Oblivion’s inferior to other dives with its short layout and lack of elements despite the drop, it’s still a good ride and one I’d always like a ride on.
-
First Drop Theming Capacity
While people say that Oblivion is "too short" I would instead argue that the ride's length is perfectly fine for what it is. The theming does a good job anticipating "the big drop" which is what the entire ride is based around. Anything other than the drop would simply just feel out of place. It's a great adrenaline rush that never gets much of a queue, making it highly rerideable. I love how the ride doesn't pull out from the first drop until it's underground, so spectators from offride don't see that bit. Big fan of that. I don't think a ride like this will ever be built again, and that's quite sad actually. Quick but sweet rides with bigass tunnels that probably took up the majority of the budget, you simply don't get them any more.
-
First Drop Theming Intensity Too short
man it sure is a one-trick pony but i honestly don't care. i had to say that too short is a con for this coaster, but really, i don't even care about the length that much. the shock of the first drop and the intensity of the entire experience is amazing, and i love it. sometimes i feel like it doesn't even need to be longer.
-
First Drop Theming Too short
It's so unapologetically 90's and I love that for it. Too short, but some of the best merchandise so an extra 0.5 star for that.
-
First Drop Too short Inversions Layout
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad coaster. But it is certainly the worst at Alton (excluding octonauts, ofc). The first drop is mind blowing but I feel like, despite this being a prototype, It is way to short. If you look at Galactica which is also a prototype, its layout actually has something whereas Oblivion doesn't. It could have had at least an extra airtime hill or a heartline roll but instead there was just a long break run. Could have been excellent but was just a quick-finish prototype.
-
First Drop Capacity Smoothness Too short Layout
The drop gives amazing sustained airtime and the tunnel is filled with a lot of mist! Yes it is extremely short but the drop is my favourite on any coaster and I love it!
-
First Drop Fun Too short
Of course oblivion is too short, but that's almost the point. Right off the bat you know what you're there for if you're riding oblivion - the drop. That's all there is, that and an overbank. All in all, oblivion is good fun for what it is, and for that, I've given it a 3.5 stars
-
First Drop Capacity Smoothness Too short
Yeah of course the ride it is too short, but not considering that it is a really good drop coaster. At the drop you don't get pushed down by the train which I don't really like, but you are floating down in your seat. You get into the tunnel at 90 degrees and the tunnel itself is huge and you rush through there. Has a great soundtrack at the station. Was stuck in the brakes for 20/30 minutes because I don't know why but I got 3 fast passes so that's great.
-
First Drop Nice surprise! Intensity Too short
This is one of the UKs most intense first drops.
-
First Drop Location Intensity
Oblivion is so underrated. I don’t care how long the ride is, it does one thing and it does it perfectly. The drop is very intense and even though it isn’t vertical (despite it feels like it) it still packs a punch and it’s one of the best rides in the UK
-
First Drop Location Intensity Too short
90's the Ride! A rather one trick pony but it does that one trick well. That drop is really exhilarating but the layout needed more
-
Location Intensity Smoothness Too short
The lead up to the drop is pretty nerve-racking for your first few times but after that it's a bit meh. But Just having a drop then that's it gets boring after a few times.
-
it drops
-
First Drop Comfort Intensity Too short
It's a comfortable coaster, for sure. The Drop is very good and intense but having a drop and that's it is kinda meh compared to what other dive coasters look like. Still, it does the drop very well.
-
First Drop Capacity Smoothness Too short
the drop is good but after that it's a bit dead. also after the rides finished you spend quite a bit of time waiting to be unloaded

First Drop Theming Intensity Too short
It has some brilliant theming in the queue and an amazing soundtrack that doesn't get annoying, unlike a certain other roller coaster (Smiler). The ride does a great job of building your anxiety up, as you approach the drop. Slowly pulling you up the hill, then slowly taking round till you come face to face with the world's first vertical drop, at a staggering 90 degrees. Oh sorry, 87.5 degrees, oh well, it's not like you're going to notice the small difference when you're hurtling towards the ground reaching and going into a dark tunnel reaching a speed of 68 mph and a g-force of 4.5 times Earth's usual gravity. And what better way to continue after this amazing drop then with... A bank turn into the brake run? Yeah, the ride is a bit short, but Alton Towers were limited what they could do considering the height restrictions and space they had to work with. There are definitely better rides out there, even at Alton Towers but that doesn't mean you should give Oblivion a miss.
-
First Drop Theming Intensity Too short
B&M's prototype dive machine is one of their weaker coasters (especially considering Air, another prototype is a much more complete ride). However that does not stop the ride from being fun. The theming in this ride is incredibly dark. As you wait in line, a preshow plays of two men debating the safety of the ride. I absolutely love this type of sinister theme. The main part of the ride is the drop and being a dive machine the drop is great. As you enter the deep tunnel you will feel a good moment of intense positive g force. Unfortunately once you exit said tunnel the ride is over. It would have been nice to have at least another element before the brake run. It's not the greatest ride at Alton Towers, but you'll have fun.
-
First Drop Nice surprise! Intensity Too short
The first drop on Oblivion is very good and very exhilarating, however there's not much after that.
-
First Drop Intensity
Very re-ridable, I’ll never get bored of that drop into the tunnel. The intensity of the drop is breathtaking, and it really is a credit to the UK themepark scene. Always smaller queues for this ride at Towers compared to some of the newer rides, which is a massive plus.
-
First Drop
Drop's super fun, decent theme for what there is. Nothing much.
-
First Drop Capacity Too short
Best drop on any ride I have ridden. Properly scary. An iconic of British theme park design
-
First Drop Nice surprise! Fun Too short
Come on guys, what do you expect? It's the worlds first dive coaster. The drop is by far the best drop in the park. It really is fantastic. Okay, so it is very short, but it's short but sweet. Its no nonsense, and gets straight to the point. And thats what makes Oblivion for me.
-
Airtimes Intensity Disappointing!
Intense ride, with great airtime feeling on the drop. Disappointing everything else!
-
First Drop Intensity Smoothness Too short
Night ride is incredible, great airtime and positive gs going into the turnaround in morning the ride is still great. Great forces.
-
First Drop Capacity Intensity Too short
Does what it does excellently. The slow, steep lift hill builds anticipation, there's a great view across the valley from the top. Then you're held at the top, over the misty hole. The drop is fast and intense, and much longer than it looks. After that, a small airtime hill, and the ride is over. It may be short but it packs a punch. On busy days running two stations the capacity is excellent. Only downside (other than the length) is that on quieter days, running a single station, the operations can be slow and you can end up sat on the brake run for quite a lot longer than the actual ride!
-
First Drop Capacity Intensity Too short Layout
My favourite dive machine. Nothing beats dropping into that hole and the surprising amount of force under ground. Too short though, even for a prototype it’s far too short.
-
Been on quite a few dive coasters, and, at least as far as it's gimmick is concerned, Oblivion's drop remains the best example. It's the only one dive machine that hits the tunnel in the vertical. Older style OTSR leave space for airtime (double dose if you can get the modified seating with two seatbelts and more room...) Sure, it does NOTHING else, but as a glorified drop tower it's the best one. As a coaster, sure, the other examples have extra features, but can anyone particularly say Sheikra's inversions are memorable? Nope.
-
First Drop Theming
The drop is the best in the UK. Worth 4 stars on its own, dive coasters don't really need anything else. The hole you dive into also has an incredible effect.
-
First Drop Capacity Fun
Im not going to consider the length a con, its great
-
First Drop Too short
It's all about the first drop, which is excellent. Holds its own against newer, much larger Dive Coasters thanks to the deep tunnel. Far too short, but considering it's a prototype and the world's first vertical drop, it does what it does very well.
-
First Drop Too short Theming Layout
Although this is still a fun ride, and the first drop is great (love the don't look down writing) I can't rate this ride higher because its just too damn short ! I know its a dive machine, and their layouts are not super long.. and that this was the first one.. buuut still.. would never wait more than 15/20 mins for this.. its far too short.
