Original Review: Hyperspace mountain is, in my opinion, the better of the two Vekoma launch looping coasters at the Disneyland Paris resort. The launch, while not as powerful as Avengers’ launch, still packs a slight punch. The layout is also more unique plus it also has vest restrains which eliminate the headbanging that the ride was known for. The inversions are also intense. Now the ride has the same Vekoma rattle that Goudurix and Avengers have. While I never got to ride it as De la Terre à la Lune or Mission 2, I think the new Star Wars theme looks less impressive. Overall a better ride than Avengers at least in the latter ride’s current state. Update Feb. 2023: I don't have anything to add to what's already in my review besides that I have a much higher opinion of Avengers compared to when I wrote the original review, still enjoy the ride a bit more than Avengers but not enough for it to get 4.5 stars. Update July 2023: I rode this coaster 5 times in rows 3 (twice), 6, 7, 12 and have noticed a few things. First off the queue was way faster than the other rides at the park. This ride has some really intense inversions, pullouts, turns and a surprising pop of airtime in the back. The right speaker was also broken in row 12 (right seat, last ride). While the vest restraints are a godsend (more on that later), they can sit too close to your shoulders. It is more uncomfortable in the station and don't bother much during the ride itself. The ride has a noticable rattle in all rows but one that gets worse further back in the train. Now that we got the rattle and vest restraints out of the way, I just want to say that the ride's rattle makes neck and head movements quite common on this ride. I can only imagine how bad it was bad it was before it got new trains. It's an iconic ride that has a quick line. Don't miss out on it Update September 2023: I got rides in rows 2 and 6. My first ride was in row 2 and the wait was atrocious (1 hour). The ride had already broken down twice. I don't know what it is with old Vekoma coaster but the front car is always extremely bumpy. The intensity was there and headbanging was eliminated but side to side movement was not. It is caused by the rattle and worse potholes. The pothole atop the sidewinder is atrocious no matter what row you sit in. Row 6 was more tolerable and since it was a night ride, the wait time was next to none. Row 6 is less intense but way more tolerable, the rattle is there but it's not as pronounced as in row 2. The reliability of this coaster is also... questionable. It probably broke down 4 times when I was there.

I personally ejoyed Space Mountain Mission 2 more than the current Hyperspace version, but that might be because I'm not a big Star Wars fan. Either way it's a great coaster.

I've been blessed enough to have experienced Space Mountain, Space Mountain Mission 2, and now Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. The physical ride and building itself is still as it always was: The gorgeous Jules Verne theme is timeless, the trains match perfectly, and the ride experience and capacity are excellent for a Vekoma of that era. At first I was scared that the new Star Wars theming ruined the gorgeous atmosphere of what is in my opinion the ultimate Disneyland Paris icon. But luckily, this was not the case. The soundtrack was very fitting, and the on-screen effects are a perfect fit for the 2 mid-course brake sections. The final corkscrew especially was themed nicely with these new Star Wars effects. Surprising!

Inversions Launch Fun Theming

A great indoor rollercoaster: while the acceleration may not be particularly forceful, it is still a quite unusual feeling being launched upwards. The twisty layout in the dark features nice inversions, forceful turns and some special effects. The ride may be a bit rough, but not in a way I would consider it as a con - thanks to the vest restraints, there are no issues with headbanging. Theming is a double-edged sword: the Star Wars overlay seems a bit provisional (for example, in the station there are only a few banners with the ride logo hanging from the ceiling) which is definetely not on the typical "Disney level" and it doesn't match with the objects of the former Jules Verne theming which are still present. But on the other hand, the building itself looks fantastic - especially the giant cannon launching the train into darkness is a piece of art. I would love if someday the original Jules Verne theme would return!

The theming in the show building is awful. But the ride’s theming and experience is superb. It’s an old coaster, but the new restraints make it 100% comfortable, even in the back. The launch is hardly modern or intense, but - being on an incline - unique and fun. The inversions are intense and have excellent laser effects over them. The second lift hill has a fun projection of a space ship being blown up, and the hyperspace effects at the start and end of the ride are awesome. This roller coaster is a proper experience, and as such holds it’s own against more modern, faster and bigger rides.

Theming Launch Fun Rattle

While I do think that the theming had a downgrade after the re-theme to Star Wars, I think they defenitely made the right choice when it comes to restraints. I'm a big fan of the Vekoma Vests that are used on some of the revamps they're doing (also on Python in Efteling). While I wouldnt say this ride is smooth, it's defenitely not incredibly rough. I do mind the roughness on this ride, but it's not the worst out there. When you're a true thrillseeker visiting Disney, this is a must ride for the credit. If you come back to Paris later, I would hit up Parc Astérix instead of Disney, because of their supperior rides and the prices. See you in a galaxy far far away!

Great diagonal launch, with a few good inversions, but it’s quite rough and I can see how people dislike the Star Wars overlay, but I’m a bit biased because I never rode it as mission 2 or de la terre à la lune

Rode it about 4 times, it is a struggle to be ridden on the backrow with how rattly and shaky it can get, a middle ride/front ride is best to enjoy the launch and not get too much of the trim on too of the first launch! That trim... Makes this ride very disappointing, but the theming makes it fun, love the new harnesses

Last time I rode this coaster was back in 2007 and I vividly remember there to be beautiful planets you would go by. The star wars theming doesn't really match the aestetic of the steampunk space mountain, in my opinion, but the scenes are really nice! I just wish they kept some planets and such we could soar by. The new vest restrains are, as they are with any other new vekoma vest restrains, very comfortable. I was mostly surprised that you had to take your bag on the ride with you, even though you traverse through three inversions. Really unexpected! But cool :D For how old this vekoma coaster is it's still a goodie and was pretty smooth! The theming is out of this world, literally xD. Definitely a great coaster!

The ride is pretty intense and the theming is really good, the launch was disappointing though, the main reason for that are the brakes after the launch, the rest of it is great.

the theming on the outside is spectacular, and the launch is rather decent, and sitting in the back of the train, on the drop into the launch, the air is shockingly powerful. Too bad from there, the ride is forceless, shaky, and extremely mediocre. And the vests, so bad. This ride is a 5/10, not because I have no opinions on it, but because It has some big pluses, but also a lot of negatives.

The original "From the Earth to the Moon" theme made this the best indoor rollercoaster ever. Star Wars overlay is fine (better than Mission 2), but does not compare. New Trains help a lot with the comfort, but it's still not a very comfortable ride. They need to restore it to the original version to restore the immersion and the currently missing link between the cannon and dome and the actual ride. Completely sealing the queueline and converting the observation deck to a fastpass entry which makes looking into the dome impossible also killed a lot of the atmosphere buildup the ride once had. Seeing the faintly glowing train passing by like a shooting star while hearing and feeling it's rumble was magical. Now it's just black corridors. I guess they will never undo that, but I will always hope that they will at least bring the old storyline and soundtrack back.
