Folks, listen. Maybe it is due to my young and flexible body, but the pain on this ride is the sort of pain that makes you look at the person in the cart next to you and smile!! I rode this thing 3 times in stupid heavy rain and OWOWOWOW! It hurt! But it was also one of like, three rides running that day, and it was so much fun, just a total knock-out. The lapbars? Suck if you're the "big one" in the cart next to the "little one". But I'm not the big one. So holy hell I held on for dear life and it ROCKED. This 55 year old baby gets a lot of hate, but when they tear her down I'll go with. Ride if you can handle a rough time with a short queue. If you'll be aching the rest of the day and whining, then yeah. Skip it.

Torture! If you are over 5'-10" tall or weigh anywhere close to 200lbs...RUN! Stay away. Don't even think about riding this coaster--especially if you are male. The "T" shaped lap bar on these only have one locking position. For me this was about 2-3 inches embedded into my groin. I seriously couldn't believe the pain I was in. I tried everything I could to re-position on the lift hill to no avail. I think I blacked out after that. I remember absolutely nothing about the ride itself. I had to sit on a bench for about 15-20 minutes to recover afterwards. If you are anywhere near the measurements I listed above, trust me, avoid this at all costs. Your man parts will thank you.

It is an outdated ride and layout, but this isn't why I give it 1 star. The restraints are absolutely horrendous! The position of the lap bar is dictated by the needs of the smallest child sitting in the 6 person car. Even as an average sized person, you will be in absolute pain as with this being a family ride, there will absolutely be small children that get places in the rows around you. On off days, I have requested the back row to try and get a car alone but the ops tend to want to front load the train on this so that request may or may not be granted.

After having ridden Carolina Goldrusher at Carowinds (which runs the same trains as this one), I can in with minimal expectations. I was surprised though. The ride experience is actually rather enjoyable and, while janky, it isn't painful the way Goldrusher was. The last helix is also quite forceful. This uses the old common-lapbar Arrow trains, so tall and/or long-legged people will be uncomfortable.

I went to Cedar Point with my groomsmen for my bachelor party and we had an absolute blast. At the end of the visit, everyone rated their favorite and least-favorite rides and Cedar Creek Mine ride was easily people's least favorite. Because their comments about it were cracking me up, I decided to allow every one of them to write a personal statement about their experiences. Here they are: Cameron: “I was as enthralled as the pieces of coal in cart transport would have been in the 1800s” Will: “Cedar creek mine ride is exactly the coaster you need it to be. Ranging from dumpster fire that should be torn down, all the way to hidden gem that makes it into your top 3 coasters for the park. It is rated.” Robert: "Gets better every time I ride it so by the year 2078 it should be the best coaster in the universe" Mark (me): “The owner of a nearby Diner in Sandusky said she doesn’t even consider this a rollercoaster… that’s all you need to know” Nate R: "Is it a kiddy ride or is it a coaster? Each turn will keep you guessing! Don’t sleep on this ride, as the period piece is equipped with some rips and turns and arm-choppin’ hazards" Matthew: "About as thrilling as mowing my lawn, which for the record is a very relaxing activity I enjoy. 10/10" and "It’s easy to mistake this ride for watching PBS Antiques road-show with mom. Damn this thing is such a downgrade compared to the other 2 frontier town coasters. Not even appropriate for kids, by the time you’re tall enough for this you’re already able to do rides like MILLENNIUM FORCE. So yeah, besides doing the credit, there really isn’t a purpose for this ride. All it does is this: jank, jank, jank, or look a drop, even jankier, straight section of decency, further jank. It’s not that fun. Just meaningless rough meandering. With that being said, it has some good theming. There’s a lead car outside the entrance that’s nice. Also, in the brake run, there’s an animatronic of a guy that’s just absurdly shocked. His reaction is honestly the only redeeming factor. It’s not that good, do the other world class coasters in the area and do the other family coasters in the park if you want a mild thrill.

It's by no means a must-ride, but if you have a couple days then I recommend checking it out. 5/10 - please do not flirt with people on the midway on the second lift hill (yes this is based on a true story)

Look, I know this ride is only a family coaster, and that it's like 55 years old, but my goodness, it has no right to be THIS BAD! Cedar Creek Mine Ride, or as I call it, Cedar Freak's Crime Ride, is a very uneventful and uncomfortable coaster. All of the turns jerk you around so badly. I mean, Magnum and Gemini do have certain parts of the ride where they're rough, but Crime Ride's entire layout is boring and jerky. The ride cars are EXTREMELY uncomfortable, even worse than Blue Freak's cars. Plus, the ride itself delivers no forces, you just squeak and jerk your way through the ride's layout. The only good thing I can say is that it has a cool setting. There is seriously no excuse how this ride manages to be so poor while the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad coasters manage to be fun and exciting family coasters. Even Trailblazer at Hersheypark is more exciting than this, at least that ride is smooth and has better scenery. While I'm not wishing death on this ride like I did with Blue Freak, I still wouldn't be too sad if this ride closed.

The best part of this ride by far is the theming on the brake run. The only valid reason to not want this ride replaced is historical value. There are better gentle/family coasters. There are better Arrow mine trains. Why is this one SO BAD? Nobody is going to be interested in this, because sitting in a bench has more entertainment value.
