I was pleasantly surprised by Gatekeeper. The only other wing coaster I've been on is Rapterra at KD and while Rapterra's rolling launch is punchy and enjoyable, I much prefer GK. Its a nice length, super smooth (unlike Rapterra!) and really makes you feel like you are flying through the air.

Having never ridden this style of ride before, and seeing that it looked cool from a distance, I thought this would be pretty fun, but it was quite boring. It was just sorta slow and floaty the whole way, never feeling like anything happened. Even the iconic barrel roll through the entryway just sorta blinked by without feeling cool or anything. The only ride the whole day to make my head hurt, which doesn't even make sense since it seemed gentle and fairly new. Maybe being on the outside was giving it some imperceptible constant vibration or something? It sure didn't improve the action like I expected either. A complete novelty ride, feels like it was built solely for cool photo op potential

I ADORE this coaster. It’s my favorite of all time alongside the Beast at Kings Island. The theming of a griffin is so beautifully done, making the coaster actually have an identity outside of the ride experience. It also literally goes over the entrance to the park, being a “gatekeeper” as its namesake. The ride itself really does follow the idea of a bird (or griffin in this case) souring across the gates of cedar point. The scenery of the ride itself is also beautiful, as you can see a lot of the beach (especially on the right side) while on the coaster itself. The Gatekeeper is also one of the smoothest I’ve ridden. The only thing I can see being wrong with it are the restraints - which were not a problem personally, but my family member did complain about it. It may be small, but to me it is an absolute masterpiece

Perhaps the first thing one notices about this ride is just how beautiful both it and its location is. The light blue color scheme is a perfect match for the Lake Erie it overlooks, and the keyholes are a crucial part in why Cedar Point's main entrance is one of the most iconic in the world. But the actual ride experience is really solid too. The dive drop is a ton of fun as it slowly swings riders upside-down, making for a surreal moment of hangtime, especially if you are on the outside seats, as it practically flies over Lake Erie. Following this with an Immelmann is a well-implemented tit-for-tat move, as it technically is a Dive Loop in reverse, but due to the unique feeling of the dive drop, makes it feel similar enough to maintain cohesion, but different enough to not feel repetitive. Next comes a camelback. I've always thought that airtime moments on coasters like this were weird, and while you don't get the full effect of the floater due to the vest restrains, but it fits the graceful, lakeside nature of the coaster quite well. The rest of the coaster is solid B&M Wing business, using drawn-out inversions to maximize the feeling of flying that such an open-air vehicle provides. And of course, the Zero-G Roll through the keyholes, and the In-Line Twist? beside them provide legendary headchopper moments. Just a really solid ride, even if the mid-course being placed towards the end makes it feel a bit uneven.

One of the best rollercoasters I have been on, inversions are smooth and graceful, first drop is unique and fun, and the overall look of it is incredible acting as the first thing you see when you get to the gate at Cedar Point. There is not much airtime and the harness is a little uncomfortable but overall I don't see any other issues with it. I understand that there are plenty rollercoasters that may be better than Gatekeeper but I still love it and will continue to no matter how many other rollercoasters I go on.

The Immelmann is super disorienting, the corkscrew gives awesome g's the 1st zero g roll gives floater airtime and a near miss element the reverse sidewinder gives great laterals, and the 2nd zero g gives hangtime. The coaster has 6 inversions in total (credit no. 89)

Most underrated coaster at Cedar Point. I expected a smooth but forceless wing coaster, but got three super intense rides in the middle of the train. I didn't get to ride in the front or back but i imagine it would be quite a bit better. Definitely don't miss this ride when you visit Cedar Point!

The Wingover drop might be one of the best starts to any coaster I've been on. This has big, graceful elements and uses its speed so much better than Wild Eagle. The head chopper is a lovely bonus, and puts it over the edge into the elite category. If only Carowinds wasn't so close to Dollywood, and even then I'd still say that Six Flags needs to give them something of this fashion. This is a must-ride at Cedar Point, and a top 25 coaster.

I knew I was going to enjoy GateKeeper, but it still exceeded my expectations. The inversion in the first drop is quite unique and surprisingly intense. Surprising intensity is really something of a theme for this coaster. I was also surprised by several airtime moments. The inversion are all great and the keyholes are a great element. The train tracks very well and the ride is quite smooth, though it is noticeably more bouncy in the outer seats. It never caused me any pain or discomfort though. The wing coaster is a great concept and I hope to see more of these get built.

Definitely has a great location over the park’s entrance. It also it right next to the beach. First drop is good, even on both sides. It slowly brings you upside down before dropping. The inversions aren’t really special, just an array of positives at the bottom and hangtime while upside down. Only inversions that are particularly better are the zero-g rolls because you go right near the keyholes creating a nice visual effect. Second half is just a helix, nothing too interesting. There is one main problem with this ride. Just like Valravn, the best is a major problem. During the ride, if you don’t try to bring it up, it staples and it hurts the hips. This one also has a pretty tight vest. Still, you’re able to appreciate the ride and it still gets 4 stars.

GateKeeper was only my second wing coaster, but it stands leagues above Wild Eagle in terms of quality and ride experience. The near-misses are really what brings this ride into the spotlight, with 4 separate moments that feel like you are going to smash directly into the keyholes (this is especially pronounced in the front row on the left side). The inversions are shockingly forceful, and the wingover drop is actually insane and simultaneously one of the coolest inversions and first drops I've experienced. The feeling of falling, picking up speed, and being spun around all while floating in midair is wild, and I loved every second of it. I feel obliged to say that any airtime moment simply will not pop well on a ride with vest restraints, but other than that small downside the vests are not bad at all here. Being located over the park entrance is also awesome, of course, and just a cherry on top for this great ride. 8.5/10 - this is the better blue B&M wing coaster in the United States with eagle-themed trains

I think this is the most underrated ride at the park. Don't go in expecting an over-the-top intensity machine. Instead, what you get is a very smooth and at times very forceful ride. The first drop can sometimes cause me to gray out and is a very unique way to start the ride. The inversions are varied and give a nice mix of forces. Butter smooth throughout. The ride dies after the mid-course, but the mid-course is so late into the ride that it's not that big of a deal. Go in with proper expectations and you will have a good time with this one.

This is a rare B&M looper for me that is not too forceful and is worth a re-ride. It’s got plenty of length and height and just is a lot of fun. The gate near misses are sort of gimmicky and not the best part of the ride but the rest is really well done.

During its first year, the harness crushed my chest. On numerous rides since then, the harness has been much more comfortable, and I enjoy this coaster more each time I ride it. It's not overly intense, but it's a smooth and fun experience. The "near miss" maneuvers through the keyholes are an awesome element, and they always manage to scare me (but just a little!).

Nice enough ride and I enjoyed the keyhole elements, but wing coasters just don't do a whole lot for me in general, just not a lot of forces or intensity. Gatekeeper delivers a good smooth ride with great views of the entrance and lake, and is a treat to look at upon arrival to the park.
