    Layout Rattle Tear it down!

    The first half is pretty good and fairly smooth. But then... whoo boy. My main memory of this coaster will always be my view from the rear seat during the really rough second half, watching the people in front of me being tossed around like rag dolls, up and down, side to side. (I was holding on for dear life to the lap bar.) The helix at the end was torture. I thought maybe it would be better in a different seat, but there was no way I was getting back on for round 2.

    Pace Intensity Ejectors Discomfort Lap Bar

    The lap bar isn't overly painful like several years ago, but it's still too tight. It takes away from the enjoyment because you're thinking, "How much will this next element make the lap bar dig into my thighs?" I really like the pace and intensity, but Skyrush would be SO much better with decent restraints.

    Capacity Duration

    Great woodie! Unfortunately the park did not expect enough guests to run both trains so I only got a ride on Thunder. The first drop was pretty good and had a nice turn giving some great lateral effects. The duration on this one seemed pretty long and it was a decent enough layout. I wouldn't put this one up near the top of my favorite wooden roller coasters because it wasn't very intense and also wasn't the smoothest. I would still ride it again and I expect it would be a lot more fun if it had the racing aspect. 3.5/5 stars

    Airtimes Intensity Ejectors

    Five stars in the middle and back. My favorite rides were near the back, and they were perfectly smooth with incredible airtimes and ejectors. What a crazy layout! My two rides near the front were surprisingly rough on a couple of the transitions, especially right at the end. My elbow and hip slammed hard against the side of the car. Top 10 coaster for me... just not in the front!

    Theming Launch Layout Rattle Theming Discomfort

    Have you ridden Joker's Jinx at Six Flags? You have? Good. Then you've ridden Flight of Fear. Take Joker's Jinx, put it inside of a huge building, turn the lights off, and you have the Flight of Fear. It's one of those uncomfortable rides due to the rattling, but it's worth taking a little bit of punishment for it, unlike the Anaconda. The launch is there, into literally just a ball of tracks. The theming used to be a lot better, but they removed some things when the Paramount Era came to an end, thus the name change from The Outer Limits to Flight of Fear. The big UFO inside is still there. The wait time can be a challenge and has the long queue, but 80% of the queue is indoors so it's a nice break from the heat or rain. The line also seems to move a lot better than most rides. Don't get me wrong, there's still about an hour and 30 minute wait, but it usually moves pretty quick. The ride itself is impressive, inversions galore, with a few loops. Luckily they changed the restraints from over the shoulder to a lap bar. You'll still get a lot of rattling, but nothing to make you feel like you was in a fight afterwards since your head is free. The ride isn't pitch black inside the building, there's some ambience lights thru out the ride so you can see where you're going and the track. It's a pretty amazing look. The ride drops you off at the opposite of the track in another area which makes loading and unloading a lot easier and quicker. It's a fun ride overall. It's definitely one to look for on a visit.

    Comfort Launch Smoothness Too short Layout Reliability

    I'm just going to come out and say it. Volcano was OVERATED! Strangely, I'm still sad it's gone as even though it was a relatively mild ride, it was a King's Dominion staple! For starters, it wasn't very reliable. Most visits it wasn't operational. When it did break down, it would stay under maintenance for weeks, sometimes MONTHS. One time it was down and entire season! If you did get the chance to ride you waited in line 2-3 hours for a 25 second ride....yes 25 seconds, IF THAT. There's THREE sections to the line queue. These queues have nothing. No monitors to show ride theming footage and no way to see the ride itself so you'd better have talkative friends or a full cell phone battery charge to occupy your time because you're going to be waiting awhile! The reason it was a slow moving line was because the ride can only run one train at a time as opposed to rides can launch the next train when the train in front of it has it a certain part of the track. The Volcano was too short of a ride to do that. The launch is great. Coming out of the top of the volcano is great. After that, its EXTREMELY tame. There's 3 corkscrews and a drop after that. That's it. The corkscrews are just as slow as the Anaconda. On top of that, once you come out of the top of the volcano into those corkscrews, it doesn't feel like your moving anywhere near as fast as that launch. You can literally carry on a casual conversation during these corkscrews. The final drop is disappointing. Since the drop is on a curve, it's pretty slow and tame. And just like that, the ride was over. It really felt like they spent more time on the launch and coming out of the volcano and just threw together the rest of the coaster layout. Volcano was not worth waiting 2-3 hours for, but it was a good ride to experience on a slow day. It's a pretty smooth and comfortable ride. The theming was pretty cheap since all they did was just keep the original Smurf mountain, but hey, it did the job.

    All things must come to an end at some point and Anaconda is one of them! This is hands down one of the most painful rides I've EVER ridden. First off, its SUPER loud going up the initial hill. I know the sound of chains pulling the cars up the hill is standard on coasters, but on the Anaconda, it's RIDICLOUSLY loud! I'll admit, the first drop into the under water tunnel is pretty unique, but because there is a curve on the first drop, the plummet down is insanely slow! Once you go thru the under water tunnel and hit that first loop, you'll realize soon enough that this ride will show NO MERCY. The restraints are on the high side so prepare to have your head bump violently against them. If you wear earrings, be sure to take them off. Not because you'll lose them but because of how sore the back of your ear and side of your neck will be from the back of your earring piercing you! After the second loop, you are THROWN into the first set of brakes. It throws you so hard, you literally think the cars are going to leave the track. Once you get to the 2 corkscrews, your head is already throbbing from the abuse you've take thru the ride. About those corkscrews, they are SUPER slow. It's an old ride so while you're upside down, there's a fear that the restraints will fail and you'll fall out due to how slow you're moving upside down. By the time I got off, my head and my back hurt and I was SUPER dizzy. I've ridden rides that were rough, but this one was absolutely ridiculous. This is an outdated coaster with nothing thrilling about it. Because of this, there's no reason to endure the abuse for it. I say PASS. The only reason why I'm giving it 1 and 1/2 stars is because of the uniqueness of the underwater tunnel and the location of the coaster being entirely over water. But that's about it.
