You get some nice drops and airtime moments throughout the ride. The layout isn’t that creative, as it has camelbacks right next to each other. It’s pretty crammed into one side of the park especially after the addition of Skyrush. One of my first coasters I’ve been on

Great Bear is a BM suspended coaster that is very comfortable and smooth. The layout is fun and I love the roar the ride makes as it barrels down hills and through turns. The loop over the pond is great and the inversions are buttery smooth. I just wish the ride had more inversions and lasted longer. This ride usually doesn’t have too bad of lines either

Fahrenheit is excellent for what it does: a harrowing vertical lift with a 97 degree first drop into a maze of spaghetti like inversions. The ride features many corkscrews, stalls, and helixes and the duration is pretty long. It has a very unique layout for this type of coaster. Unfortunately, this ride isn’t very reliable and only seats 12 to a train, resulting in horrendous lines because ops can’t figure out how to fit more than 10 on a train. Solid ride

Storm Runner is one of Hershey’s best coasters: it’s an intense launch coaster with a top hat, a completely unique inversion I call the storm roll and a double zero g roll at the end. The launch is exhilarating and you hit speeds of around 85 mph as you attack the crazy features of this intense ride. The only downside is that it’s done before you know it. At least it’s got more features than Ka, though.

Skyrush is a very controversial hyper coaster for me and many others: the lift hill is steep and fast, that first drop into the banked turn is exhilarating, and the layout around the pond is great, with some good airtimes throughout the run. However, for the majority of its life, it had the most uncomfortable lap bars of any ride I’ve been on. There was a reason I and many dubbed it “Thighcrush”: it felt like a 10 year old kid was jumping up and down on your thighs every airtime hill. Reliability is another issue plaguing this ride: it is known to break down multiple times a day pretty frequently including 2 of the times I’ve been there. That being said, they finally got new lap bars that I’ve heard don’t crush your thighs anymore after 12 years. But to have this ride ranked at #31 in the world? Absolutely not! Despite having a fun layout and improved restraints, this ride is overrated.

Super Flight is a Volare clone, which is a ride type that gets a bad wrap based on their discomfort and headbanging. For me, I anticipated the turns and inversions and did not have as much headbanging as others have. That being said, they have unique spiral lifts to them and are a type of flying coaster that packs several intense inversions. Because of the auto lift, capacity isn’t an issue for these. This ride has been out of service for years though.

Crazy Mouse is your run of the mill Wild Mouse clone. The layout is standard and you know what you’re gonna get. This model is maintained and operated well and I wasn’t jostled around as much as some other wild mouse rides. The turns and dips are smooth, but it lacks creativity and theming making it cookie cutter.

Wildcat is the park’s oldest coaster and is the designated centerpiece of the park: it’s located right in the middle with attractions surrounding it. That being said this is a very classic experience with dips and turns that give off Cyclone vibes. Don’t let its image fool you, this ride is very intense from start to finish with crazy rattling despite the park re-tracking some of the bad sections. The ops aren’t great on this ride and the line moves quite slow even with 2 trains. It definitely feels ancient after riding it, but it’s classic fun.

The Dragon Coaster is Playland’s iconic ride and for good reason. The ride was featured in Big and Fatal Attraction and has been operating since 1929. The chain lift is surprisingly fast and the layout is very unique and quite long for a classic woodie. The second drop has you enter the mouth of the dragon where you exit the tail into another fun drop. Although not the most intense ride, it makes it up by having a 2+ minute ride time.

Phobia Phear Coaster was a great addition to my home park and is a really smooth Sky Rocket 2 clone with just a lap bar, so you get a ton of hang time on the heartline roll at the top and feel the ejector airtime of the 1st drop that whips you down into the next obstacle. The launching mechanic is smooth as butter, but it is a very short ride however easily lap-able due to having next to no lines

There is the classic headbanging you get with these models but the loop and cobra roll forwards and backwards will never not be fun.

Boulder Dash is one of my favorite coasters and arguably the best woodie in the world, and for good reason: it has one of the most unique wooden coaster layouts you’ll ever see: an out and back ride with intense ejector hills built into the side of an actual mountain! With just a lap bar, be prepared to yeet out of your seat on most of the hills. The first drop is more intense than it looks, and at around 60 mph, it is nonstop action from start to finish. It’s located at my home park of Lake Compounce and this ride has won the Golden Ticket over 5 times for good reason! A wooden masterpiece!
