My favorite coaster of all time, but I still have to be fair. To state the obvious, yes, the mid-course brake run became borderline terroristic in its later years. The roughness had plateaued to a decent level (especially for arrow loopers) in the 2000s, but that roughness skyrocketed in the 2010s, leaving Vortex with a tainted legacy. This thing was always just so much fun, man. The layout starts off organized but intense, and plays by the rules with no tricks… until it throws a batwing behind a tree at you like a left hook. Vortex looked spectacular and it even sounded spectacular with its old-school station bell, lift hill and brake runs. A truly special ride that I miss more than any other, and I want Kings Island to hurry up and build something there already so I don’t feel the hole in my heart every time I lay eyes on that empty plot of land.

This legendary ride has the best theming out of any roller coaster in the world, period. Even though the actual layout doesn’t match the intensity of the theming, and has some dead spots (all Disney rides do), the highlights are still amazing, such as the backwards helix in the dark. This is easily the best coaster at any Disney park and one that is a lifeline for thrill seekers who happen to be at Disney - this ride single-handedly saved my 12-year-old self from complete thrill deprivation on my family trip. Thank you, Everest.

This ride has a phenomenal preshow and theming, one of the best on any coaster, but the inconsistency and shorter duration you’ll encounter makes you feel like you wasted your time. If you’re going to throw a launch and inversions in, don’t make every other element something out of a kiddie coaster. If you’re worried about intensity don’t put the launch and inversions in the layout to begin with!! Great theming, great launch, but that’s pretty much it. If this layout was pretty much anywhere else it would be rated a lot lower.

Let me start this off by saying that California Screamin’ was worlds better than Incredicoaster. Not everything has to have some big huge plot line surrounding it, and it was honestly nice to get a break from everything of that nature and just ride a really fun coaster that didn’t try to be anything else. The new theming makes the coaster look incredibly (lmao) awkward and doesn’t mesh with the cosmetic look of the tracks or supports. I am also not a fan of having somebody yell in my ear while a baby manically laughs in the background through the ENTIRE ride. As for the actual ride, the launch works, it’s not snappy but it works, and the layout is well paced with the loop being my personal favorite part. Dead spots are to be expected cause it’s a Disney ride, but this is the best you can possibly get at this park, so be grateful. All in all, decent coaster, phenomenal by Disney standards, but the re-theming made it substantially worse to ride in my opinion… seems like a common theme with Disney rides.

Unbelievably boring, even by kiddie coaster standards. Always has a long wait time as well. The view of Hogwarts from the lift hill is the best part of this entire ride, which says a lot. If this layout wasn’t in Universal it would be a 1, but the theming and setting of the park saves it from being complete garbage.

A great NON-FAMILY coaster that provides a smooth ride, strong forces, a gorgeous view, and unique near-miss moments through the keyholes. If the final section of this coaster wasn’t so lackadaisical, I would rate it a 5, but it fails to live up to the bare minimum standard of what last sections should feel like. This ride is still great, however, and the consistency of the ride’s greatness throughout the train speaks volumes.

Orion is amazing and I’m happy I was able to ride it again. Probably my favorite first drop out of any coaster, but I feel like the layout was rather uninspired and lacks bite. I have yet to get any substantial airtime on the wave turn and I’ve found the coaster struggles to maintain speed through the middle and ending section. Orion still manages to dish out some decent airtime (that last bunny hill is awesome) and I like the theming along with the awesome view from the lift hill.

I think Rougarou is the most underappreciated ride at Cedar Point as it’s quite literally ALWAYS a walk-on. I love the setting this ride takes you through and I find its elements to be very fun. However, it’s got probably the worst headbanging in the park, some pretty bad restraints, and the roughness is steadily creeping up due to old age. As much as I love Rougarou, it fails to fully differentiate itself from the other coasters in the park which hurts its stock tremendously.

FOF has gotten a lot rougher over the years but the theming is great (even if it’s a little dated). The capacity is awful but the themed A/C queue and crappy preshow they show on the screens makes up for it. I would compare my last ride on this thing to getting tossed around in a dryer, but the endless head/hand choppers make the ride experience very enjoyable. If this thing got a bit of a revamp, I believe it would return to being one of the most popular coasters in the park.

You will never forget your first ride on this thing. Beautifully extends the duration of the original and provides an excess amount of airtime and speed. Love the intensity of the direction change up the top hat and the barrel roll straight down it. I’d recommend riding this first thing due to less wait time and the shock factor being higher.

An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. This ride is fueled on pure pandemonium and it takes no prisoners. And it just keeps going, and going, and going, and going, and going. Objectively, no coaster can hold a candle to this monster or its stats, and your jaw will be dropped from beginning to end. It’s easy to call Steve repetitive due to it packing so many elements in, but if those elements are as great as they are, there should be no reason to complain.

“Greatest thrill ride ever” is more than a fitting nickname for this absolute icon. An otherworldly sense of speed, and it maintains that sense of speed for the entire ride. Everything is phenomenal, the pacing, the airtime, the intensity, the location, the smoothness, the first drop, it’s all exactly the way it should be and it’s perfect. Ride this thing multiple times in different seats and find the seat you like the best, airtime junkies will want the back and speed junkies towards the front. I cried actual tears on my first front row ride because of how amazing and beautiful this coaster is. 100/10, hope it’s around for a millenium!

An eye-splitting experience from beginning to end. Only coaster that’s ever made me lose circulation on a limb due to its intensity (both of my legs). Inversions are snappy, layout is phenomenal, I’m a fan of the pacing, there isn’t much to criticize besides the inherent headbanging a coaster this intense will have.

This ride goes down a star if you ride the teal train as it’s way rougher than the other trains. The outside back seats on non-teal Banshee are the best seats in the park and maybe even in the state of Ohio. The speed, forces, and intensity of those seats is pure insanity. If that greatness was more evenly distributed between the rows I’d rate it a 5, but in my opinion the coaster loses a lot of its bite the farther up you go.

A rightfully iconic ride that I’m grateful to have ridden. Rode back row and felt like I got punched in the gut every time we made it to a positive elevation change. Lots of airtime and surprising intensity made up for it.

Cyclone is a hair away from being a 1 star but it’s just too much fun to put it that low. It embodies every negative aspect a coaster could have, but it’s fun nonetheless. I like how it’s close to the water and how often you feel like you’re going to get decapitated, but that’s pretty much it.

Hoosier Hurricane was not only a bit rough (although nowhere close to what some say), but I was left a disappointed by the middle and ending sections. This coaster has a lot of potential given the phenomenal setting integration, but lack of airtime and the jackhammering take away from it.

Steel Hawg provided a very balanced ride experience with unique inversions and a great first drop. The restraints aren’t as bad as people made them out to be, either. If it was longer I would rate higher.
