Batwing is one of two of the very rare Vekoma flying dutchmans left in operation. These rides are very hard to come by, having terrible capacity and seem to be closed more than they are open. However, the actual ride experience of this ride is not to be taken for granted. The ride essentially acts like an unconventional flying coaster with significantly more forces and lay-down sections. It’s not my favorite flying coaster but it definitely provides the most action of the ones I’ve ridden. The vertical loop especially is one of the most disorienting elements I’ve experienced on a coaster. If you ever find your way in Six Flags America and see this ride open, be sure to get on it as it’s absolutely an underrated gem.

Très intense je trouve surtout au niveau du Loop, la partie Fly to Lie et Lie to Fly régale toujours autant avec une belle sensation de vol, niveau débit c'est toujours une catastrophe tout comme la fiabilité, niveau confort c'est ok mais pas agréable comme du Flying B&M ou next gen Vekoma.

The coaster is built with such a large and thick track and structure and it has that deep roaring sound as the train moves on the track. The feeling of laying down when it first starts and then moves out of the station to the lift hill is one of the strangest feelings I’ve experienced riding a coaster. Of course they had to use the loudest ratcheting system for the lift hill. I rode in both back and front and definitely recommend the front as the more comfortable, but the back was fun because you were whipped through the course. The first half is more fun with the big vertical elements and the second half is mostly laying on your stomach looking at the ground and doing a couple of barrel rolls. It’s a fun and solid ride but I wish it were more incorporated into the park instead of sitting out in a big empty field. It’s maybe the most unique coaster I’ve ridden and I much prefer this flying coaster to the B&M flyers.

I really don't love the Flying Dutchman model. They always break down, and staff takes forever to get them back up and running again, like Nighthawk at Carowinds, and now this. It's frustrating to me, because the layout is never bad, but the big problem aside from reliability is also the harness. I hate it. I feel like I'm actually in danger, and when I don't feel like I'm in danger, I feel in pain. It's the staff's fault, but I thought I'd die it was pressing so bad. This is the REAL thigh-crush. which sucks, because if you're able to enjoy it, and it doesn't take seven minutes each time for them to finish operations, you'd realize how fun the layout is, especially that loop when you're facing downwards, which is unlike anything else I've ridden. If the park could find a way to make the harnesses better and to stop them from crushing waists and thighs, it would be a much better ride.

While I can understand why someone may like this ride, it just was not for me. The Vekoma Flying Dutchman configuration of leaving the station and climbing the lift hill backwards on your back is not fun. The actual layout is quite smooth and intense, but I don't really like the feeling of laying face down / up on my stomach or back while on a ride.

Given how much I like Nighthawk, I was really excited for Batwing. In my opinion, the leanback of the Dutchmen is much more comfortable than the raising of the B&M flyers. Despite those pros, I found Batwing to be an overall less comfortable experience than its sibling at Carowinds. The vertical loop of course remains awesome, but the in-line twists where actually more uncomfortable than Nighthawk's corkscrews. Despite the less-present rattle I was just overall less able to enjoy the layout, which certainly wasn't aided by the much less interesting location over a grass plot. I still recommend the ride, but not enough to advise traveling to this awful park. 8/10 - fun fact! This same model of train (the ones leftover from Firehawk) sit under Fury 325's lift hill to this day

Batwing, definitely innovative. The Vekoma Flying Dutchman is the predecessor to the B&M Flyer, and it feels like one. Instead of initially going in the flying position, it forces you into the position you use to sleep. Also weird, it has a lap bar and some form of vest restraint?? The lift hill is bad, you have the loud lift hill right in your ear for the entire time. Finally during the first descent, you go into the flying position. It lasts 1 whole turnaround until it goes back into the lying position. Then, the vertical loop occurs. It's an early attempt at what the pretzel loop does. It goes to the top, then tries to rip you in half. Best element of the ride definitely. Finally the ride decides to be in the flying position until some in-line twists. This whole part feels somewhat like flying. One more turn and the rides over. Batwing is fun, but it is weird and sometimes is uncomfortable. At least the pain in the ears is from noise and not headbanging.

By far the best of the Flying Dutchman model, Batwing is definitely the star attraction of the park in my opinion. It has more track and a better layout than the others of its make, but still is held back somewhat by the lack of capacity due to the restraints and such; Batwing, in theory, has the dual loading station to compensate, but it was not operating during the peak Summer day of my visit (probably park staffing). Compared to the B&M flyers, I'm a big fan of how much time you spend on your back, as well as how funky the vertical loop is. Out of all the flyers I've ridden at the time of this review, really the only one I'd put above it would be Tatsu. Get the front for the best flying experience.

These flying dutchmans are so weird but that is what makes them awesome. Batwing gives such a great mix of positives and even airtime on a flyer which is super crazy. The fly to lie and lie to fly elements are pretty great for those forces and the whole ride is just really forceful and well paced. Definitely better than the Suf clones.

Batwing is a great Flying Dutchman ride with intense elements (especially the forward facing loop), but it suffers from reliability issues. It is a roll of the dice if the ride will be open as it is very technical and complicated. The dispatches are often very long as well. Still, if you are able to get on it, it is a blast from start to finish. I love the near miss elements and the low to the ground section towards the end.

This is an excellent ride. I love flying coasters and these Vekoma flying dutchman coasters are just awesome. This ride is surprisingly very smooth and all of the inversions and very intense and awesome. The only con with this ride is that there are some moments that aren't very comfortable such as the weird final break run where you're just lying on your back. Anyways, this is a great flying coaster and I hope the park can keep this ride up as long as they can

Its uncomfortable and on a sunny day, those lift hills and brake runs are tough, but I found it to have some enjoyable spots, especially during the sweeps near the ground. Its interesting but not as good as a B&M flyer. Worth a try though.

Batwing is one of the smoother Vekoma coasters made before their current renaissance. It is quite intense too, especially during the vertical loop on the back. Although the layout seems exciting on paper, I didn't find the experience as enoyable as B&M flyers.
