I got a fresh ride in the fall at night in the front row and found that it was actually an enjoyable experience where my previous ride was painful. The layout of this GCI wood coaster is unique from what I can tell. It's focused on laterals but then there's so many interesting choices like the travel through the interior under a covered roof. Ride it at night if you can in the front row and ride defensively. I still wish Six Flags would invest some money in fresh track on this one. I would love to experience it a bit more smooth.

Both wooden coasters have the same problem in this park, they need to make the seat more comfortable to be enjoyable. It would probably be fine if they made the rubber in the center of the seat cushioned leather or just remove it outright all old wooden coasters should expire to be as comfortable as Grizzly in Kings Dominion revamp/retrack. P.S. It really hurts

There are no positives to this ride. It gets more painful every time. I don't understand why anyone wants to ride this anymore. Only ride it for the credit. I desperately hope Six Flags shows SF America some love and RMC's Roar, because I want my home park to do well, and there aren't any good options there right now other than Superman.

This was my first ride of the day at SFA and it was not good... After waiting forever in the heat due to inadequate queue design and terrible operations, Roar jackhammered my entire body for the entire duration of the ride (yes even the pre-lift). This is the roughest ride I have been on to date and is the first ride I have ridden which I have gotten no fun but only pure pain out of.

There's basically no airtime to speak of, which is pretty disappointing given how good GCIs tend to be in that regard. I think this layout has potential, but it needs to be retracked and slightly reprofiled to have the airtime pop better. Either that or bite the bullet and just RMC the thing. 5.5/10 - it's truly impressive that the worst GCI and worst B&M are right next door

I understand the potential of Roar. Initially, it was a fun and intense wooden coaster. Recently though, I was able to ride again. It's not the same. The low to the ground turns used to be forceful. Now, I still feel some force, but I also feel a lot of roughness. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom's Roar had millennium flyers, and it was permanently closed. SFDK doesn't have another wooden coaster, so I wish that they would've moved the trains to Six Flags America. Here we are though, with a painful ride that is a shell of its own past.

I'm a GCI fanboy, and I look forward to their rides. Well, Roar lands solidly at the bottom of my GCI list. Good grief, this thing rattles from start to finish. The layout has potential, but the constant shaking ruins what could be a fun coaster.

With the PTC trains being on that ride for so long it does not help at all. Again, there’s a decent drop, turns, and an airtime hill or two, but you cannot enjoy it at all because your busy suffering from your legs being beaten up by the train because the ride is that bumpy and the track is that rough. Don’t ride this more than once. And If you do sit in the front in order to not shatter your femur bones.

I used to justify this ride but in my recent ride, Roar is nothing more than pure RMC real estate. The ride does nothing but severe shaking and jackhammering. I can handle wooden roller coasters through the best of me but this is too much. While the layout is creative but the ride is forceless. Please Six Flags... RMC this abomination. This ride also breaks down a lot as well.

My night ride was pitch black and in the middle of a full train, and I knew nothing of the layout, which only made my ride that much more jarring and white knuckle. Never RMC this, give it some GCI retracking and treat it well.

Roar isn't the best woodie ever, but it's pretty good.

A decent early GCI, showing its age and SFA's low maintenance budget (which seems to go mostly to Wild One, and for good reason). Seeing what SFDK did with its cousin, I think an RMC on that scale could be great for the park, while removing a less than great coaster that the park can't maintain.
