I enjoy this ride more and more each time I ride it. The first half is great but it just gets better after the launch.

    First Drop Intensity Ejectors Inversions

Maverick is awesome! Love the first drop, which is insane despite it only being 105 feet tall. Those low-to-the-ground turns and ejector airtime hills that follow are also insane! Feels like a mini I-305 for a sec. To me, this ride's first half could be argued as its best. I think the two inversions on this ride are decent, but nothing insane. Still fun though! If I had to pick one moment I was a little let down by, its the launch. I was expecting a much better version of Velocicoaster's first or second launch (I haven't done anything super comparable outside of that), but it just didn't really do it for me. Probably my fault for having crazy expectations, but I think I'd barely take this over Velocicoaster's first launch, but definitely not over its second or the Incredible Hulk's launch. Far from a bad moment though! The stangle dives and ending ejector hills are great so that makes up for it. My first time going to Cedar Point I thought Maverick might be my #1 at the park (or at least I hoped it would be), but Steel Vengeance is just too good. I think this ride is great, but I would advise you keep your expectations in check on this vs. Steel Vengeance if you haven't done both. If you end up liking it better, more power too you! But you wouldn't set expectations as brutally I high as I did for this. Phenomenal ride though and definitely my #2 at Cedar Point.

First Drop Launch Intensity Capacity Harness Disappointing!

This ride's alright, but it's not worth the long wait. The beyond-vertical drop and airtime hill are nice, but that harness makes them hard to enjoy.

    First Drop Inversions Smoothness

Disclaimer this is being written many years later. The first drop is very short, but the fast lift, steep drop, and smoothness make it one of my favorites anyways. They tried to make a ride that is fun despite remaining low to the ground, and they succeeded.

Downright fun. Each element hits and they all offer different types of forces from positives to laterals to negatives to whip. Second launch has incredible kick. Setting over the water is great. For my money, one of the most underrated coasters out there.

    Airtimes Launch Intensity Harness

This is truly a world class coaster. The layout is full of airtime, and there are some snappy maneuvers. The second launch in the tunnel is my favorite part, as you can feel the acceleration, and your in a tunnel. The restraints are a little big, but I don’t really mind. 10/10

    First Drop Launch Ejectors Harness

Maverick is the 2nd best ride at Cedar Point. The first drop in the back car ejects you out of your seat. It has whippy transitions and some good inversions. The launch inside the tunnel is also great. I am still tying to imagine this ride with that deathly looking heart line roll it could have had.

    Airtimes First Drop Fun

Maverick is my favorite coaster at Cedar Point. All the elements are fantastic, but it's the non-stop pacing of the entire ride that really makes it so incredible. This is about as perfect as a coaster gets.

    Launch Pace Fun Layout

Controversially, I have to admit to being a little disappointed by Maverick, I expected it to be better than it was, sure it's a perfectly fun ride but I find the layout is mostly banked turns, taken at speed which to be honest is not my favourite element at all on a coaster, still it was fun and the first drop and launch were great!

    Launch Intensity Ejectors

This is sort of like Copperhead Strike but on horse steroids. (Pun intended?) The ejector airtime on the 95° drop is a very unique sensation and the rest of the layout follows with a series of elements that never let up the intensity, providing lots of strong airtime, whippy inversions, and insane bank transitions that remind me Project 305 (except I can ride this without passing out!). The second launch kicks hard and is one of my favorite launches. There are a couple moments where the harness causes a bit of neckchopping if you aren't careful, but I never found it painful. This is definitely my favorite ride in the park. The only thing it is missing is a heartline roll in the second half…

    Inversions Pace Intensity Discomfort Reliability

This one was a mixed bag for me. And as someone who loves Intamin and especially their launch coasters this surprised me. The ride is forceful, there is some nice airtime, pretty intense inversions and the second launch is pretty good. However, this ride broke down 3 times in the two days when I was at Cedar Point which I find to be most irregular for an established Intamin coaster. Furthermore, the restraints are awful (I'd prefer the plastic harness found on Kingda Ka) and the first launch up the hill is pointless. That being said, this rollercoaster is very special and still an experience I do not wish to have missed out on.

    Pace Intensity Layout

Maverick is a coaster with supreme personality. I've always loved this ride, but in recent years you realize how unique Maverick is. Cedar Point and Intamin really showed off how intense you can make a ride that is barely over 100 ft tall. From beginning to end, Maverick is a beast, but one that makes you laugh in awe of how crazy it all is. The turns and banking are snappier than any other coaster I've ridden and the new restraints are honestly really nice in my opinion. Some of the ejector on the speed hills is so powerful that you are genuinely shocked during and after. Maverick may not "look" like a lot from the pathway, but the current #13 spot in the world is much deserved. By far the best theming at Cedar Point too (not saying a lot because there's barely theming anywhere, but the sound effects and lights of a "train crossing" before the launch really adds to the intensity and excitement of it. Would love to see them lean more into that kind of thing for future rides.

    Inversions Launch Pace

I love this ride to pieces. It is at my #4 position currently (granted, out of only 83 credits) but it was very difficult for me to decide between this and SteVe. This rides launch is the best one I’ve been on (I’ve been on Formula Rossa, Kingda Ka, RTH, Karacho) due to how unexpected it is and the snappy turn at the end, and this was #1 for me before I decided to shuffle SteVe ahead. There is nothing inherently wrong about it (I’m a short teen, the restraints don’t bother me) and out of any coaster in the world this is the one that left me the most flabbergasted. The rides above it are more rerideable for me, but don’t underestimate this small beast.

    Airtimes Launch Intensity

Oh my god. My most recent rides on this thing were actually demented. I mean, I already thought it was incredible, but these rides were so much better. First drop was about the same with it having ejector. Then comes the turns, these were so much better. Every turn you just get yanked. Either it was going from high to low or low to high with the banking. From low to high, you get pulled up so quickly and it’s absolutely insane. Next airtime hill gives insanely strong ejector throughout the entire hill. Then more turns into the twisted horseshoe roll. This provides whip throughout both turns and is actually under-appreciated. Soon later, the second launch happens. This provides pretty good acceleration for an LSM launch. Then more turns while being even faster. Now, you really feel the speed on this ride. Eventually, there are the Stengel dives. There whip you up into a beyond vertical turn and they continue the previous trend of the prior turns. While this isn’t as long as Steel Vengeance, it executes the maneuvers in a way that makes it somehow even more intense. Genuinely an insane and incredible ride.

This is easily my number 1 favorite roller coaster. Like Steel Vengeance, there are so many things that are great about this ride. The airtime, intensity, launch, also the first drop, the theming, the whip. It’s just outstanding. I can see how people prefer Steel Vengeance, but to me, Maverick is just better.

First Drop Intensity Ejectors Capacity Discomfort

I love how unique Maverick is however, the snappy transitions provided quite a bit of discomfort to me. I usually don't find coasters uncomfortable however this one just hurt my back. I feel like this coaster is really unique and without it we wouldn't have coasters like Velocicoaster. It's just the whippy nature of this ride is too much for me, especially when it comes to rerides. I love the second launch though!

    Inversions Pace Intensity Capacity Harness

The LSM launch up the hill is just pointless. A cable launch is faster than this tame launch. This ride feature many inversions and good pacing but the transitions are often harsh and the harness is pushing you down uncomfortably. Still a very fun little ride but in my opinion overrated.

    First Drop Launch Intensity

Maverick is an incredibly wild and powerful ride. In some ways it really does feel like a mini P305 with its forceful low-to-the-ground elements and whippy turns, but it remains a completely distinct experience. Launches are always fun on a ride, and Maverick showcases that expertly. Though the first is a bit underwhelming, that second one is one of the best of all time with its enclosed setting followed by a blast into the outside world. And, on the topic of that first launch, it still leads into one of the best first drops in the park that, despite being only a hundred feet tall, feels like it never ends in the back row. While the ride may be focused on intensity, it has a couple pops of airtime that are absurdly powerful, and rival the literal airtime machine next door. Add on top of these awesome elements a gorgeous location over water, through trees, and on the coast of Lake Eerie, and you have yourself not only an awesome roller coaster, but a breathtaking experience. 10/10 - everyone that says this needs lap bars have a thing for broken spines

My favorite ride at Cedar Point. The whole ride is so intense and fun. The first half has some awesome low-to-the-ground transitions and airtime moments, including an underrated first drop, but the second half is even better. First Drop Launch Pace

It's not the size of the coaster, it's what you do with it that counts. I'm so grateful Cedar Point broke from the coaster wars mode and built this. Phenomenal pacing throughout. Incredibly diverse mix of elements with every force you can think of accounted for. My favorite elements are the very last two: the second Stengel dive into the speed hill is a disorienting mix of laterals, positives, and negatives back to back to back. It's approaching 20 years old and still feels fresh and unique. I will never get sick of this ride.

I hate that this ride launches you at 70MPH only to take it all away after 1 turn with a bunch of trim brakes. Otherwise, really good ride for its time but has since been outclassed by better rides. Maverick will be this generation's "Beast" in that even when 50 coasters have opened that are better than Maverick, there will still be people ranking this in their top 10 saying "THEY DON'T BUILD 'EM LIKE THEY USED TO!!!"

  • Theme Park Avenue
Theme Park Avenue 11 months ago

Maverick is the blueprint. Every modern Intamin blitz coaster that people praise, Maverick, VelociCoaster, Taiga, is building upon Maverick's brilliant design. Maverick's layout is so insane that its heartline roll was removed due to its intensity. The way the ride is, I'm amazed the rest of it is still allowed. The forces you feel on those turns are shocking, and I use to confuse them for roughness because of how draining this ride is. Maverick is definitely not for everyone, but the pacing is utterly flawless and despite being much slower than Intimidator 305, this is a much more consistently forceful experience than that ride. Even those who don't like the intensity of this ride can still appreciate some elements of it. The first drop startling and the tunnel launch, especially at night, is one of my favorite launches on any roller coaster. I don't think Maverick could ever be replicated today because of its intensity, but it's a nearly unbeatable experience for any adrenaline junkie and is among the very best launch coasters I've ever ridden.

My first ever ride on this was a night ride. Blasting out of that tunnel was something else. The airtime is pretty good. This is just such a fun ride. And being right next to steel vengeance this makes frontier town the best part of the park. CP has one of the best one two punch. The first drop is so forceful, being only 105 feet tall im surprised they could fit a 95 degree drop in, and since they did it give a lot of ejector airtime. If i could ride this ride forever i would.

    First Drop Intensity Duration Discomfort

I wanted to like this coaster more than I actually did. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it, but I didn't love it as many folks clearly do. I found the first launch to be underwhelming; albeit, the drop that followed was great. From there, it was a bit too herky-jerky for my liking throughout the ride and a bit disorientating as a result. This is me splitting hairs, it's still a top 10-12 coaster and full of proper intensity and fun. But as an experience, its a tier down from my all-time favorites and so I'm being a bit critical to create some separation from those as a result.

    Masterpiece Layout Ejectors

Best coaster I have ever ridden. I like that Maverick's layout is so diverse, as it includes a powerful mid-course launch, a quick lift hill that leads to a punchy 95 degree drop, two stengel dives that provide out-of-this-world laterals (I have not felt these particular lateral forces on any other coaster), explosive ejector airtime with the camelback airtime hill, nice sustained airtime with the speed hill, positive forces on the drop pullout and following turns, and satisfying inversions. The inversions typically receive criticism from others for being too bland, but I think they fit the ride perfectly well as it makes the layout more diverse, plus the turns going in and out of the inversions are similar to the turns after the first drop.

    Pace Masterpiece Intensity Discomfort

Sure, big coasters are always a marvel to look at. However, size doesn't always equal amazing. Sometimes, you can have a very tiny ride that packs a massive punch, and Maverick does EXACTLY that! It's first launch quite literally acts like a lift hill, which you then get THRUSTED down the first drop into these snappy and fast paced maneuvers. After a crazy first half, you go into an even CRAZIER second half, with an extreme launch out of a freaking tunnel, and ultra insane maneuvers that literally try to kill you. All in all, Maverick is not for the faint of heart as it can be so intense it's a bit uncomfortable. However, if you are in for a wild ride, you are going to experience something TRULY memorable.

    Launch Intensity Ejectors

My only complaint would be the restraints.. but on my most recent ride they were improved and I no longer have any complaints! Maverick is smooth, intense, and hilariously aggressive. The erratic pacing is always changing, the airtime is sharp and scarily forceful, the changes in direction are faster than your body can keep up, whipping you around and leaving you in the dust. The first drop is stupidity terrifying, the launch is exhilarating, and the whole ride makes me giggle like an idiot. The theming really sets Maverick apart. There's western landscaping on the whole footprint, with rockwork, architecture, foliage, and water effects all reminiscent of the wild west. Maverick is the best bucking bronco launch coaster I can think of.

Inversions Intensity Layout Headbanging Capacity Harness

Maverick was an incredible coaster, but it has its downsides. Let's start with the good. I still cant quite fathom how intense Maverick was. The launched hill was intense, and I don't forget the feeling of that 95° drop. The inversions are incredible at Maverick's speed. And the whip you get form those sharp turns is insane. Now, the downsides. The capacity is horrendous. I had to wait in line for 2.5 hours while seeing trains with 1-2 empty seats. Next, the harness (aka Intamin Comfort Collars). The harness causes a lot of discomfort, as the bars across your chest aren't very soft, causing that discomfort. And the final con, the Headbanging. The headbanging causes incredible discomfort, partially because of the restraints and their own discomfort. This factor caused me a headache and I had to sit out of most of the rides for the rest of the day. Overall, Maverick is a fast paced intense coaster with lots of fun, but it does have its bad elements to it.

    Launch Pace Intensity Capacity Harness

Maverick was a great coaster. It was intense, had a good launch, and great pacing. However, the ride has Intamin Comfort collars, which are just generally bad. In addition, it has very low capacity, causing it to have the longest lines in the park.

    Airtimes Pace Intensity

Although I think Steel Vengeance is better, Maverick was the surprise hit of my Cedar Point adventure. I came off absolutely shook. I am still in shock. I can’t believe that a ride that small and that compact can be so insane. That first drop in the back row and camelback give absolutely wild ejector, more powerful than anything on SteVe. And that’s not all the airtime. Those snaps give pops. The s-bend that replaced the roll gives floater. And those stengel dives are just insane in general. Those snaps into and out of them with insane laterals and negatives make them some of the most crazy elements out there. And I forgot to mention the world’s greatest LSM launch. You can’t beat the feeling of just entering this tunnel with a bunch of lights flickering, slowing down a bit, hearing this dinging noise and BOOM! You’re just launched off so quickly and crazily. And that’s not all. The sharp turn right after is just insane taken at 70 mph, especially at night when you can’t see it coming. I just can’t get enough of this ride. I’d wait the average two hours this ride gets to get on it.

First Drop Fun Intensity Headbanging Capacity

This ride is so amazing! It is my favorite roller coaster and it’s just a straight up power house. It really shows you how great of a coaster you can make in a small footprint.

    First Drop Launch Ejectors Discomfort

A amazing night ride with amazing ejector and inversions, this guy Caleb white that rated it 17 minutes ago followed me around all day for some reason but anyway it has the best night ride and the only problem is breakdowns.

    Airtimes Launch Intensity

Absolutely an elite ride. It has one of my favorite launches on any coaster and the inversions are so snappy and forceful. It is the best night ride at CP.

    Inversions Intensity Ejectors Harness

This ride is almost perfect. This has some of the craziest ejector ever, the launch out of the tunnel caught me off guard, the snaps at the beginning were intense, and the spangled dives and horseshoe rolls were so snappy and smooth. The harness did crush my things a little, though, but that doesn’t matter to me. This is too good of a ride to hate

    Airtimes Masterpiece Intensity

This coaster is just pure perfection. The beyond vertical first drop is so aggressive and gives a super strong burst of ejector. This blitz coaster is snappy, intense, smooth, and relentless. The coaster gets crazy lines due to a kinda low capacity, but it is well worth it. This is the second best Intamin I’ve ridden, only behind Velocicoaster.

    Launch Intensity Ejectors

A great ride which I will never forget, it may be small but packs a big punch, which is why I love it, from the outside it looks like a basic ride but once on it you feel every mph on it, the ejector moment was amazing, the launch in the dark was done perfectly, and the first drop is crazy my only criticism is the trim brake after the launch which you can definitely feel, apart from that this is one of the most beautiful rides ever made, the restraints don't bother me at all

    Airtimes First Drop Intensity Inversions

Really fun ride great whip in any row. Just the inversions and the s bend are just so pointless to the ride.

    Airtimes First Drop Intensity

Wow this thing shocked me on a reride. This thing was absolutely mental on my last visit. That first drop is one of the greatest moments on any coaster and this ride also has insane whip and positives. The turn out of the launch is one of the most intense moments on any coaster I've ridden. This thing almost felt like a launched version of Intimidator 305 on my last visit. This is absolutely one of the greatest coasters I've ridden.

    Pace Intensity Smoothness Harness

What a ride, it's seriously one of the best ones out there. The snappyness of this ride is amazing. Sadly the arness puts quite a bit of pressure on my shoulders and i dont think it'd be very comfortable for anyone taller than me (i'm 185cm), my bf is a bit larger (although not really that much) and the seat was quite uncomfortable for him. I really think this ride would do good with the new Intamin Blitz trains and might actually become the best ride around if they do.

    Airtimes Launch Intensity Dead spots

Maverick was a lot better this year than I remembered in 2018. This thing is a long and constant barrage of strong ejector, snappy laterals, great inversions and some really fun launches. That first drop is easily one of the best I've experienced and it throws you straight into those great snaps with some cool theming, follow that up with an amazing pure ejector hill that almost throws you into lake erie with its power. The twisted horseshoe roll is pretty solid but there isn't any whip or hangtime that really stands out too much. That second launch in that tunnel is so fast and a very good lsm launch that throws you into a crazy tight and fast left turn into a trimmed hill that still provides some ejector and great positives curving out of it. Those stengel dives are insane for just how sustained and strong the whip you get and especially on the second one. The final ejector hill is a great touch too and the whole ride just feels so fast and the pause before the second launch doesn't really ruin the pacing for me. The first half was a lot stronger and more forceful than I remembered and while it can't hold a candle to it's bigger brother in VA it's still awesome and second best at Cedar Point.

    Airtimes Inversions Launch Capacity

I sat in the front row of maverick and it was amazing. The launch up the first hill was intense and the inversions were so whippy. The second launch was extremely fast and it made me feel surprised.

    Airtimes Masterpiece Intensity

Maverick is the most intense coaster at Cedar Point. It is jam packed with low to the ground turns, interspersed with some wild ejector airtime, a great launch under the station, and gorgeous scenery. This ride is truly phenomenal.

    Nice surprise! Location Intensity

This ride was better than I was expecting it to be. It feels like a middle-ground between Cheetah Hunt and Velocicoaster. Very intense with snappy transitions, and the second launch is incredible. I love the rock work and the water, it really immerses you in the experience.
