First Drop Location Fun
This was my first B&M wing coaster and it did not disappoint. The first drop is awesome and the view you get of the lake is incredible. The key hole elements are cool and I love how this ride interacts with the main gate at cedar point.

Location Fun Smoothness Harness Dead spots
Why do people hate this ride JUST because it's "boring"!? Sure, Gatekeeper may not be as extreme as rides like Maverick or Steel Vengeance, but just because a ride doesn't try to kill you doesn't mean it's a bad ride. In fact, Gatekeeper is a great ride actually! It's very smooth, the valleys deliver some nice G's, the ride looks gorgeous with a gorgeous location, the keyhole interaction is very cool, and overall it's just a very fun ride. I will admit the restraints aren't the best, and the ride can be a BIT slow at times, but the pros far outweigh the cons All in all, Gatekeeper is a tame, but a great ride that appeals to everybody, and it is BY FAR my favorite Bolliger & Mabillard coaster in the park.

Airtimes Hangtime Dead spots
This is a great ride and was fairly smooth. Rode in the front and that first drop was really cool with the inverted dive.
-
Inversions Location Smoothness
This really is a great ride. I've never had an issue with the restraints, so it gets bonus points there. This is living proof that a ride doesn't need to feel like it's ripping your face off to be good.

First Drop Fun Layout Harness Lap Bar
During its first year, one ride was enough because the harness/lap bar became increasingly tight during the ride, crushing my thighs and chest. It REALLY hurt. (I'm a slender guy, 5'10", 165.) When I rode it again recently, the harness was snug but not painful, so I could actually focus on enjoying the ride! I rode it several times. It's not super intense, but it's still fun. It has good pacing and a decent layout.

Location Pace Layout Harness
Gatekeeper is in my top three for CP. Just think it's a really fun ride, and how cool is it that you literally go through the front gate pillars? That first roll is pretty killer. Very beautiful sights from the lift hill as well, but you get that on most of the rides there.
-
First Drop Layout Rattle Harness
Recently, I had a ride on Gatekeeper on a left inside seat. That ride, I experienced one of the worst rattles ever. The layout itself is cool, but that rattle was insane. This thankfully has only happened on 1 of my many rides on this ride, but it was enough to bring it down a bit.

Inversions Comfort Too short Dead spots
This should be like 30 seconds longer ong.

Location Fun Hangtime Dead spots
It’s a very fun ride. It does get a little slow after the midcourse but everything before that is great. Amazing inversions that give hangtime up front and whip in the back. It gives great views of the lake while being the park’s most picturesque coaster. It even has some floater on the first hill. Very underrated.
-
Location Pace Duration Harness
fun ride but i was stapled and the vest restraints hurt
-
First Drop Smoothness Duration Intensity
Amazing looking ride at the front of the park. The keyholes both have great head-choppers and feet-choppers. Restraints are fine and is probably the second or third smoothest ride in the park.
-
First Drop Location Hangtime Theming Harness
A great wing coaster, with amazing views and a great drop, the way the track weaves through the two spires is great and gives some good head and footchopper moments, however the restraints tightened a lot during the ride leaving an uncomfortable feeling near the end of the ride
-
Fun Harness Smoothness Intensity
Great, graceful coaster which is fun and it's restraints aren't as bad as people say it is. It's also exceptionally smooth, only problem is it lacks true intensity.
-
Location Smoothness Intensity
its got a beautiful location right on lake Eire and the view from the front gate is an icon for Cedar point but it does feel a little lacking in intensity but that's just B&M for ya.
-
Inversions Comfort Intensity
This is a really fun ride has a good floater airtime and hangtime. The setting is also great and the positives you pull on this ride are crazy.

First Drop Theming Intensity Capacity Harness Discomfort
Awesome ride and I love the aestetic, but the wait time was rough(at least there was shade for a large portion of it) and, as much fun as I had(i.e. a lot), I was apparently "too big" for the "regular: seats and had to wait an extra cycle to sit in the there-were-already-seats-available-when-i-had-to-move "plus sized" seats. I'm 5'9 and 200lbs. Safe to say, ouch. Right in the insecurities and bodh dysmorphia! Pretty much only made an account here to write this lol. Oh well, still fun. 9 1/2 out of 10, docking half a star because of the mental ouchie.

Inversions Fun Smoothness Harness Dead spots
I went from thinking this ride sucked to now thinking it's just pretty alright. It has some fun moments and some dead spots. It's definitely the second best B&M wing in the US

Inversions
What a beautiful coaster to look at, so pretty right above the main entrance. And it's seriously a blast to ride too. This wing coaster is about the same length as flug der damonen, but way less disorienting. Guess it does help it's out and back and not spaghetti bowl. Really enjoyed this ride, and we were even allow to ride it twice in a row without getting out of the seat!
-
Capacity Comfort Smoothness Airtimes Intensity
Gatekeeper is a capacity machine with very little wait times usually and its location is very picturesque. The first drop is quite fun and the near misses at the key holes over the entrance definitely add to the experience. However, if you a coaster enthusiast, Gatekeeper is just a let down for its size. After the first drop, you really don't feel any forces. The ride is soo smoth and comfortable to a fault, as if I could read a book while riding the ride. It's a good entry level big coaster and its actually a great way to begin your day at CP, it just isn't overall exciting.
-
Inversions Fun Layout
Incredible flying coaster and the layout is amazing. Especially with the pillars you go through. Rode this in the front and will need to every time. Such a smooth ride too, but definitely not the most intense, just a really fun coaster. And awesome to look at as you're walking into the park, also crazy I waited just 5 min to ride this
-
Location Fun Smoothness Intensity
My first B&M wing coaster. Fun and smooth ride, just not very intense.
-
Location Smoothness Airtimes Dead spots
GateKeeper is a really fun ride. It's super smooth. The inversions are great. It's really pretty to look at. It gave a great night ride. The major downside is it doesn't have a ton of airtime. And it's a pretty gentle coaster overall. But it does what it sets out to do very well. Not anywhere near the park's best coaster, but a very good one nonetheless.
-
Capacity Inversions Location Airtimes
Easily one of the best B&M coasters open today. The location at the front gate next to the water is second to none, the near-miss elements and wing-over drop are iconic. It pulls great positive forces while being super smooth in the front and back. And it has some of the most elite operations/dispatches in the game, being at the front of one of the busiest parks in the world. The only reason it's not ranked higher is because it's overshadowed at Cedar Point.
-
Location Fun Duration
This was my first wing coaster, and I thought it was decent. My hair unfortunately got caught in the vest restraint, and I think that took away from my experience somewhat. Also, the ride wasn't rough but it wasn't as smooth as I expected it to be. I would say that this is a ride you should ride front row for the full experience.
-
First Drop Inversions Location
A graceful and long winding winged coaster which wraps spectacularly around the opening gate to Cedar point
-
Inversions Nice surprise! Fun Dead spots
A nice fun ride. Nothing too crazy but the inversions are just very floaty and fun. The final helix also made me grey out once somehow which was a nice surprise. Overall not too forceful but its just pure fun.
-
Nice surprise! Fun Duration
This was our first coaster of the day and it was honestly a pleasant surprise. This wing coaster felt smooth, and the duration was longer than I expected it to be (in a good way!). There was also very little wait for the ride. Not sure if this was due to it being tucked away a bit on the side?
-
Not a fan of the restraints but I guess it makes the GP happy. The layout is beautiful and the setting makes this a fun ride. Outside seat had more roughness for me and inside was smooth. Good near misses. In many other parks this would be a top coaster probably
-
First Drop Inversions Smoothness Dead spots
Great inversions, hangtime on the wing over drop, and good headchoppers, but it has lots of dead spots (camelback, helix). Still a fun ride!
-
First Drop Inversions Fun
The winged seating added a weird feel to the inversions that made it stand out from the other B&M loopers I've ridden. This coaster isn't the most intense coaster out there, but it's just pure fun.
-
Inversions Smoothness Layout
Last time I rode Gatekeeper I was surprised by all the force. I don't remember that from my previous rides. The immelman has good Gs and the near misses were great. The dive loop had force as well. Much better then I remembered. Still prefer Wild Eagle and Thunderbird but solid coaster.
-
Great coaster!

Airtimes Inversions Smoothness
I generally like wing coasters, and this is no exception, it pulls some serious forces and the hangtime and airtime is really good. Fun ride
-
Location Comfort Fun
I rode this once back in 2014, and I remember having a positive experience on my ride. This was my first wing coaster, so it was exciting getting to ride in that laid back position while going through the big inversions. I don't remember anything about the specific elements, but I also don't remember noticing the dead spots towards the end, though that could be because I used to not pay attention to those things. I may be overrating it with 4.5 stars, but i'll have to go back to experience it again. As of now, this was an awesome unique coaster for me.
-
First Drop Smoothness Hangtime Harness
A pretty underrated coaster. It was a lot more intense than I was expecting. It's very smooth and has some awesome headchopper (or feetchopper, in this case) moments. The first drop is pretty disorienting as well. The only complaint I have is the bulky restraints, but it makes some sense due to the nature of the ride. Overall, I have got to tip my hat to B&M here.
-
Very graceful and smooth. Doesn't have a ton of forces but there still are some pretty intense moments.
-
Inversions Location Fun Harness
So smooth, and the location is AMAZING! the colors are pretty too
-
Location Layout Hangtime
It's not the biggest and the restraints are a bit uncomfortable, but this roller coaster makes me happy. Gatekeeper is the first thing people see when they enter the best park in the world and it's absolutely beautiful. The flying sensation during the inversions is almost soothing, and the near miss through the keyholes is brilliant... it's a great way to start a trip to the Point.
-
Inversions Smoothness Duration Pointless
I really wanted to ride this ride when I saw the povs, but then I rode it. I rode 3rd to last row (covid 19 made no prefer seating) so that might be why I didn't like this ride. I experienced little to none g's at all and the inversions gave little hang time. The key holes and the lights on the train were cool but cant revive this ride for me. I might re-rank this ride but I still need the other credits at the park before they close for the year so I might not get a re-ride.
-
Airtimes Inversions Fun Harness
This is a really underrated and fun ride. I found to have good airtime, and I could lap it all day. Vest restraint was a little uncomfortable though
-
-
First Drop Inversions Fun Harness
This is a really fun coaster. The drop is really intense too. The keyholes make the entrance to the park look amazing, and they make the inversions more fun. It's a parking lot coaster, but it's also right next to the water. The vest restraints are tighter than Valravn's & Yukon Striker's vest restraints, but it's still a really fun wing coaster.
-
First Drop Fun Dead spots
Gatekeeper is a very beautiful and fun ride that has good inversions and near miss elements. It does have some parts that feel forceless but overall isn’t boring. Probably my favorite wing coaster by B&M.

-
Masterpiece Hangtime Harness Dead spots
Good hangtime and a lot of fun to look at, but it is easy to get stapled.
-
Location Comfort Smoothness Intensity
An absolutely gorgeous, butter smooth B&M with an amazing location and some of the best near-miss keyholes in the game. It would be fair to describe this ride as a bit lacking in the force department, but it's still an iconic ride with some neat elements packed into its layout.
-
I've been critical of wide B&M trains not being able to roll particularly snappily on loads of rides before. Gatekeeper (nearly) proves that theory wrong. It still rolls relatively slowly, but the positive G and fantastic location still make for a fun ride flirting on the edge of intensity. This is absolutely everything the Swarm failed to be. Major shout out to the CP maintenance crews; apparently the ride had completely stalled due to very heavy gusts the Saturday before we arrived; yet we were on it by the Monday and nobody would have known any different. I would suggest if the ride has any problem, it is the 7/8ths course brake; at which point the ride is basically over. The final drop and helix don't add anything, other than avoid a long straightaway at the point the ride has otherwise ran out of altitude and ideas.
-
Airtimes First Drop Hangtime
An incredible warmup or cooldown ride, GateKeeper gives insane hangtime on the inverting drop, strong positives on the pullout, then some great floater air and some solid zero g moments through the keyholes. Worth the wait for the front, and if you're riding with a partner, make sure both of you get the chance to experience an outside seat.

Inversions Hangtime Duration
Gatekeeper is an awesome wing coaster. It’s fairly tame, but still exciting for coaster lovers, and the inversions have amazing hangtime. It’s smooth and fast, and has good pacing. The drop gives a nice floating sensation. The best part is the zero-g roll through the keyhole, which has a convincing headchopper and great hangtime as well. This is one of my favorites at Cedar Point!

Capacity Location Pace Harness
9.1 out of 10! smooth flying coaster, it is cool and nice to fly in the front gate area.
-
First Drop Capacity Location Harness Discomfort Airtimes
Gatekeeper is known to be a popular ride at cedar point, but not a favorite. Many people have different opinions about this ride, but I’m gonna give my own. The layout is pretty cool and stuff, having the head of some mystic bird on the front of the train and going through the gates at the entrance of the park. My favorite part about the ride is the first drop. The first drop has a little inversion before it plummets down at a fast speed. The inversions of this coaster are kinda slow and long compared to other coasters and I suggest that people who get dizzy easily when it comes to inversions should not ride. The restraints on this coaster are very unusual and are very tight, which makes it uncomfortable. Also, you will barely see the track at all if you don’t sit in the front, so it’ll be a blind ride most of the time. Lastly, after the inversions, the ride will come to a brake and will have an unreasonable ending to it. Going in a circle very slowly, probably just to give it more length.

Capacity Inversions Fun Harness
Gatekeeper surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, so much that I went back in line for a second ride! Its beautiful setting at the front gate of Cedar Point — which I disappointingly never used in any of my two-day stay — and along the beach only improves what is a very good coaster on its own. My favorite moment has to be the dive drop, because hanging upside down for what felt like an eternity ended up as a great start to an enjoyable ride. While it may not have many G forces, there is a decent moment of air on the so-called “airtimeless hill” before the massive corkscrew. However, after this ride, I began to garner a loathing of the B&M vest restraints which I had not understood others’ hatred for — until I rode Gatekeeper. Overall, though, this is a really fun coaster and for me it is my #3 at Cedar Point; just behind Millennium Force and Maverick.

Inversions Fun Smoothness Dead spots
Gatekeeper is a super fun coaster just because of the hang time, and how huge it feels next to the beach and over the entrance. It's a gorgeous coaster on and off ride. The hangtime and near misses are great, and every inversion is fantastic. Unfortunately the "airtime" hill is forceless, but that's the only dead spot. Great iconic coaster otherwise.
-
Comfort Smoothness
B&M wing coasters are relatively forceless and very smooth - and this is no exception. Loved the near-miss effects.
